What To Expect
Tesla’s 4680 team’s goal is to change the cell manufacturing industry by making the most energy dense and cost-effective battery cells in the most cutting edge, compact and energy efficient factories in the world. Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Technical Program Manager to support our capacity expansion project planning globally. The TPM will be responsible for developing and maintaining our 4680 global capacity plan (near term and long team), which will be used for critical strategic planning decisions.
The ideal candidate will have production planning experience and experience launching factories across different locations at rapid speed. The individual will possess the ability to deep dive into and critique manufacturing plan assumptions (yield, speed, availability, etc.) and help draw useful conclusions to drive company planning decisions.
What You'll Do
Global strategic planning coordination (material supply vs. cell build plans vs. vehicle demand) Measure and closely track production throughput and yield projections vs. actual performance (build attainment, yields and availability attainment), compare site to site and report out Respond to unanticipated changes and look for solutions – e.g. production shortfall vs. schedule or material shortages, sharing material / product site to site Sync with local production planners regularly to check site performance and identify / escalate any production risks to global leadership team Drive workflow from site build plan changes to downstream consumer and upstream supplier communication Determine resource needs - people, capital, equipment - determine and track deliverables, identify risks and drive mitigations across all stages of the project Develop and manage project budget, track and control costs, determine and mitigate risks to costs, timelines and project scope
What You'll Bring
Degree in Engineering OR equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability Experience in manufacturing, finance, supply chain management or related field Ability to work well under pressure, manage competing demands and meet tight deadlines with strong follow through Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to evaluate and analyze data to enable operational decision-making or present clear recommendations to leadership Passionate and high energy, with the diplomacy and cooperative style necessary to positively influence others Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills Ability to write, speak and present effectively and persuasively
