New Product Introduction Technician, Body in White, Megapack

What To Expect
The NPI Technician is primarily responsible for ensuring the successful launch of the newest Energy products and sub-components, turning new engineering design and mass production.

This role will be based out of the Greater Houston Area (TX) however will be expected to work in Lathrop (CA) to support prototype builds and validation for the first 1-2 months. Other travel may be required. Travel plans and reimbursement will follow Tesla’s Travel Policy and will be governed by the direct manager.

What You'll Do

Responsible for preparing materials and tools for performing NPI builds, trialing new materials and maintaining the various NPI core functions to a high standard

Ability to execute efficiently against provided instructions, self-validate work for accuracy, check the quality of previous operations, and meet critical deadlines

Must have the capacity to be able to document and verbally provide constructive feedback, define/iterate/document standard work, and suggest process improvements

Ability to support field investigations, instrumented/non-Plan of Record builds, and unique projects in support of our cross-functional teams

This role includes hands-on product build validation, collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure factory and line readiness as well as ensuring critical timelines are met through effective execution of key milestones

Support Operations and Projects on the production line as necessary

What You'll Bring

Associate’s Degree in Electronic, Metallurgy, Welding or some technical certificate or equivalent experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment

Must have a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail, while working in an environment that requires quick action

Knowledge in Fanuc Robot, WTC Weld Controller, Lincoln power source – Power Wave (Desirable)

Knowledge in Resistance Spot Welding (RSW), GMAW MIG, Destructive Test (DT), and Nondestructive Test (DT) (Desirable)

Communicates test results, ideas, and problems to supervisor and engineers; able to be part of the solution

Typically involves a variety of operations (including troubleshooting and rework) requiring a sufficient understanding of the functional operation of the items assembled as well as the finished product

Skilled in troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems plus skilled with the use of a variety of hand and portable tools
