What to Expect

We are seeking a highly skilled leader and experienced Engineering Manager to lead the design and development of industrial factories, manufacturing plants, warehouses, and other specialized facilities. In this role, you will oversee a multidisciplinary architecture and engineering team that owns and drives engineering efforts and facility designs for construction and infrastructure development from concept to handover. You will drive technical excellence, manage complex projects, ensure regulatory & code compliance, and drive collaboration between construction, manufacturing engineers, 3rd-party contractors, production and operations teams, and senior leadership to ensure our team’s goals are aligned with company priorities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, construction, and project management. The role requires a highly organized mindset, a passion for driving multi-disciplinary projects, and an unparalleled ability to pull people together to make things happen. This role requires you to be extremely detail oriented, optimize problem solving across multiple engineering disciplines, and drive the cross-functional teams to execute at high quality. We are a demanding and fast-paced environment, so being self‐motivated and disciplined is critical.

What You'll Do
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of architects and mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, and process engineers focused on industrial facility design
  • Lead and develop project forecasting and resource planning processes across architecture and all engineering disciplines; versatility with multiple project management, resource planning, and document control software and the ability to guide the development of in-house software is an asset
  • Manage end-to-end facility design projects, including site layout, utility design (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, compressed air, etc.), structural systems, process optimization, integration of manufacturing equipment, and strategies for design and engineering deliverables including construction and permit packages
  • Own the full design and engineering efforts for construction and infrastructure development from concept to delivery to meet our aggressive goals; establish and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and quality control processes within the team
  • Develop concept designs and project funding requests; present CapEx requests to stakeholders and senior leadership for alignment and approval
  • Oversee the creation of detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and 3D models using tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Revizto, Navisworks, BIM360, ACC, and other software
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes and standards (OSHA, NFPA, IBC, local building codes, environmental regulations, and industry-specific requirements)
  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, value engineering, and cost-benefit analyses to optimize designs for performance, constructability, safety, and long-term O&M
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, external consultants, vendors, and contractors during design, permitting, construction, and commissioning phases
  • Identify resource requirements and highlight gaps across various stages for all projects; manage project budgets, schedules, and resources while identifying and mitigating risks

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Architecture or Engineering (civil, mechanical, structural, electrical) or a related field (Master’s degree preferred); PE/RA license or other relevant certifications are highly desirable
  • 8-12 years of progressive experience in industrial facility or plant design/engineering, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or management capacity
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams within A/E firms and delivering complex industrial projects; proven record in delivery of IFB, IFP and IFC packages
  • Full understanding of all engineering disciplines and ability to demonstrate skills to manage engineering resources; subcontractor or third-party consulting firm experience managing resource forecasting, project budgets, and gross margin is an asset
  • Experience designing production facilities, workplace and site infrastructure development
  • Strong knowledge of industrial processes, manufacturing layouts, and facility systems (power distribution, process piping, material handling, cleanrooms, or hazardous materials is a plus).
  • Advanced project management skills, demonstrated application of project and program management fundamentals to complex engineering problems
  • Experience working with AHJ’s and ability to build strong relationship with local jurisdictions, navigate regulatory compliance and safety standards
  • Excellent communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and ability to effectively execute many projects and tasks in parallel
  • Proficiency in design and modeling software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Plant 3D, or equivalent); familiarity with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) is advantageous
