As a Tool & Die Specialist, you will support die-set maintenance and tooling changes for productionin the High Pressure Die Casting department. The ideal candidates will possess excellentcraftsmanship, the ability to troubleshoot, and a commitment to safety and production goals.
What You'll Do
Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and tooling changes for production die-sets
Support the design and implementation of tooling changes to accommodate partmodifications
Maintain and manage die-set preventative maintenance (PM) system, including schedulingand updating work instructions
Troubleshoot defects and support the preparation of die check sheets and trial procedures
Maintain die-set spare parts lists, ensuring parts are stocked and readily available
Develop and implement systems to reduce defects, improve productivity, and minimizedowntime
Collaborate on Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify risks and createcontrol plans for production dies
What You'll Bring
3 years of hands-on experience producing structural aluminum diecastings. Apprenticeship certification in Tool & Die or equivalent experience
Experience with high-speed die-sets, including tooling material selection, and knowledge ofCNC die surface machining, welding, and spotting
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles (waste elimination, continuousimprovement, Just-in-Time, etc.)
Ability to interpret dimensional inspection results (CMM, checking fixture, or visionsystems)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and strong analyticalskills
Ability to work independently and in a team, managing tight deadlines and competingpriorities
Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day on varied and uneven terrain including concrete surfaces
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
- Must be able to frequently and repetitively lift/carry 30 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. infrequently
- Frequently and repetitively push heavy carts and dollies
- The ability to carry up to 20 lbs. up and down flights of stairs multiple times a day
- Ability to drive cars & trucks back and forth while being outside of the factory for up to 12 hours/day
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures while bearing hand tools on their person. For example, climbing ladders while wearing a tool belt
- Ability to identify issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
- Follow all safety rules and guidelines including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing the above-mentioned activities
- Ability to correctly wear respiratory protection such as half and full-face respirators, if required, for up to 12 hours/day
- Ability to perform the above-mentioned activities while working in outdoor weather conditions
