Technical Program Manager, Production Control, Optimus

Tesla Motors, Inc.
Austin, TX Full Time
POSTED ON 8/1/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/1/2026
What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a Technical Program Manager to support complex, cross-functional initiatives within Production Control for Optimus. This role is focused on new product launch and deployment-helpingdefineand execute how material flow, warehousing, yard operations, and production control should work as Optimus ramps.

You will work closely with senior program leads and cross-functional partners (engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, and operations) to turn operational concepts into executable plans: equipment needs, space and layout, trailer slots, warehouse-on-wheels / yard design, and day-to-day production control readiness. The ideal candidate is operationally minded, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced launch environment with a strong bias for action.

What You'll Do

  • Support and drive cross-functional workstreams that improve end-to-end material flow, production control, and supply chain execution for Optimus launch and deployment
  • Help define operational requirements for launch readiness, including equipment quantities, space allocation, internal layouts, trailer slots, and yard / warehouse-on-wheels design
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, Industrial Engineering, Facilities, and Operations to identify bottlenecks and advance execution against launch milestones
  • Build analyses and business cases (capacity, space, equipment, cost) that inform prioritization and investment decisions, and analyze operational data to quantify opportunities, validate layout and flow designs, and support scalable process improvements
  • Own assigned projects from planning through implementation-managing scope, schedule, risks, stakeholder updates, and follow-through
  • Prepare materials for program and leadership reviews, including status, risks, open issues, and recommended next steps, and help establish and maintain KPIs, trackers, and reporting that improve visibility into launch readiness and operational performance
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across warehousing, transportation, inventory, yard operations, and production planning as the program scales, and support factory expansion, area stand-up, and related cross-functional launch activities for Optimus

What You'll Bring

  • Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 3-6 years of experience in Technical Program Management, Operations Program Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience supporting or driving operational stand-up in a launch, ramp, or new-area environment (layouts, material flow, warehouse/yard, or production control), with a strong operational focus and comfort working through practical design questions: how much equipment, how much space, what the layout should look like, trailer slotting, and yard design
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools, and experience building analyses, business cases, and clear presentations for cross-functional and leadership audiences
  • Solid project management, organization, and communication skills
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment without direct authority, and comfortable operating with incomplete information and a high bias for action
  • Experience in automotive, manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, or industrial operations preferred; prior EV/OEM launch or factory stand-up experience (e.g., standing up internal layouts or operations) is a plus
