What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Backend Engineer, Robotaxi & Optimus position at Tesla Motors, Inc.?
Join a small team of experts to create the next-generation of server-side systems that will power Robotaxi and Optimus. The role is for a hands-on Tech Lead ready to build the technology stack that will scale to millions of users and broad use cases. You will work alongside world-class engineers on some of the newest and most challenging IoT & navigation services in the world.
You will advance the roadmap and operate core systems in our vehicle portfolio. You'll scale the Tesla robotaxis network and improve infrastructure for vehicles and robots. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to help build and improve a platform that will scale novel functionality to tens of millions of products. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a large impact to the Tesla product roadmap and mission.
What You'll Do
- Design and build scalable, high-availability, mission-critical systems and APIs
- Work closely with cross-functional teams in Product, SRE, and Infrastructure to drive roadmaps to completion
- Architect solutions with a focus on security, scalability and high-performance
- Solve problems using distributed, asynchronous messaging
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degreein Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, proof of exceptional skills in related fields with practical software engineering experience,or equivalent experience
- 3 years of building applications, preferably in a service-oriented architecture
- Direct technical contributions in your current role, in code and design
- Extensive background in web services and distributed systems development
- Expertise in modern web developments frameworks, preferablyGolang
- Demonstrated success with scalable web applications or messaging systems
- Experience leading engineering teams with a history of outstanding accomplishments in architecture and product delivery
- Experience with web security is a plus
- Ability to collaborate and communicate complex technical concepts to a wide audience

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
