What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing Estimator position at Tesla Motors, Inc.?
As a MEP Estimator, you will be a critical embedded member of our active supply chain construction teams. You will play a key role in determining preparing accurate cost estimates, and supporting the bid process with precision and strategic insight. This role focuses on managing complex projects from bid to closeout across multiple construction disciplines.
What You'll Do
- Develop accurate, detailed cost estimates for multi-discipline construction projects including Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, schedules, and project scopes to identify all scope elements and potential risks
- Perform takeoffs (manual and digital) using software such as Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, CostX, or Sage Timberline
- Research material costs, labor rates, equipment needs, and subcontractor pricing across multiple trades
- Prepare bid packages, including bid summaries, contingency analysis, and risk assessments
- Maintain and update historical estimating databases and cost templates for future projects
- Provide input on project feasibility, pricing strategies, and subcontractor selection
What You'll Bring
- 5 years of construction estimating experience with a strong emphasis on project execution-phase work for Mechanical/Electrical trade
- Knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, process & electrical systems
- Experience with conceptual and detailed estimation including takeoffs for scope quantification
- Strong skills in Construction baseline development, change control, cost/schedule performance, and variance analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to project challenges

Salary : $104,000 - $192,000
