The Tesla Sensing Team is looking for a Systems Engineering leadwithspecificexpertisein RF GNSS based navigation systems. The candidate willbe responsible forcreating performance and quality metricsrelated to GNSS receiverperformance andapplyingthese metrics toa fleet of vehicles and robotsworldwide.The candidate willbe responsiblefordeveloping requirements for future GNSS systems based on cross-functional alignmentandforvalidatingthat theperformance requirementsare met or exceededfor future systems.
The candidate should have a strong background indevelopingor integratingpracticalGNSS systems along with a deeptheoreticalunderstanding ofGNSSand navigation systems as a whole. A successful candidate should have a strong background in using and developing Pythoncodebases, with anemphasisondeveloping and using data analysisand collectiontools.
An integralportionof this role is to supportand leaddebugging efforts related to GNSS systems. The candidate must be willing toextract useful information from log files,telemetryservices, andauxiliarysourcesof datatoidentifyand help fixcomplex failure modes.Proficiencyin reading, writing, and understanding modern C code is apreferredqualificationtoassistin this debugging.
The candidate willbe responsible formanaging the relationship with 3rdparty suppliers related to GNSS specific hardware and software.Additionally, the candidate willbe responsible fordriving internal line trialsand testsof new components orarchitecturetovalidatethe performance of the GNSS system.
What You'll Do
Develop and implement performance metrics for GNSS receiversrelativeto autonomous vehicles and robots
Lead cross-functional activities tocapturefuture systemperformancerequirementsforGNSS systems
Lead debugging and triage efforts toidentifyand fix problems as discovered in the field
Work with the Global Supply Chain team to handle supply chain disruptions, replacement parts, or multiple sourcerequirements
Define and drive the validation of GNSS on newly introduced platforms. Ensure quality of performance before release to customers
Interface with 3rdparty vendors and suppliers. Drive the suppliers tomeet Tesla's performance and timeline targets
What You'll Bring
2-3 yearsof experience specificallyworking withGNSS (satellite navigation systems)systems
Strong RF systems knowledge as it pertains to GNSS antennas,receiversand overall link design requirements tooptimizethe overall end-to-end performance
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, orarelated fieldor equivalent experience
2 years ofdevelopmentexperience in Python for scientific/mathematical problem solving as well as testing and data analysis
Excellent written and communications skills
