Tesla is seeking a motivated engineer for powertrain system design and optimization. This position is critical to the development of electric powertrain for Tesla's current and future electric vehicles. This person will be working in the motor research team to continue develop the system optimization strategy and workflow.
What You'll Do
- Developing electric powertrain evaluation strategy for real world driving considering nonlinearities of drive unit
- Developing optimal utilization strategy of electric powertrain in highly dynamic driving condition
- Developing system optimization strategies for single drive unit and multi drive units for single platform and cross-platform
- Optimal powertrain designs to minimize the total system cost
- Managing Powertrain design database, running system sensitivity study
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
- Deep understanding of power flow and energy flow in electric drivetrain
- Experience on utilizing optimization algorithm
- Strong understanding in thermal modeling for electric powertrain system
- Strong Matlab or Python programming skills
- Good physical understanding on electrical machine and power electronic
- Understanding finite element simulation

Expected Compensation
$84,000 - $168,000/annual salary cash and stock awards benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
