The Account Manager Role on the Solar Roof Channel sales team is focused on developing sales accounts for Tesla's Solar Roof product with third party roofing and solar contractors (Certified Installers). Ideal candidate has a strong background in energy sales and technology, with good knowledge of energy and roofing industries and very strong set of relationships across energy, storage, solar/renewable energy, and/or roofing sectors. Experience managing B2B customer relationships in the field is highly encouraged. The Account Manager will identify and onboard new contractors, particularly in underserved markets and develop their Solar Roof business, managing the business-to-business relationship to consistent target attainment. A strong work ethic and team-oriented focus is required.
- Recruit, develop and manage a pipeline of strategic channel partner relationships.
- Focus on quality of execution, end-customer experience, and protecting the Tesla brand; working with some existing accounts plus new accounts you will develop.
- Help build a pipeline for Solar Roof Certified Installers by thinking creatively and strategically about demand generation opportunities.
- Identify and provide feedback on operational improvement opportunities for Certified Installers that can lead to increased Solar Roof deployments.
- Serve as a go-to for Certified Installer questions and escalations regarding the Solar Roof product and the Solar Roof Channel program.
- Conduct weekly meetings with key accounts, advise and develop their strategic and tactical approaches.
- Hit the ground running on day one, with strong technical knowledge and existing relationships in key industries.
- Work with Certified Installers (and sometimes their end customers) to identify best uses of Tesla's residential energy products and help quantify the business case.
- Understand regional energy markets, utilities, and jurisdictions.
- Collaborate with internal technical, product, policy, legal and other teams.
- Demonstrated experience in developing B2B relationships and closing deals in energy and renewable energy and/or roofing industries.
- Diverse set of experiences leading to deep and broad knowledge base.
- Proven record of outlier levels of success in the energy/renewable energy industry.
- Self-motivated with ability to proactively manage and organize sales pipeline.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong presentation and demonstration skills.
- Bachelor's degree required in relevant field; MBA preferred.
- The role location is flexible in the continental US but must be near a major airport for ease of periodic travel.
