Tesla is looking for an individual experienced with training personnel on manufacturing best practices to contribute to the Cell Manufacturing team at Gigafactory Texas. As a Training Specialist, you will build a world-class manufacturing training program from the ground up. You will leverage your experience in production operations, adult learning principles, and process optimization to support operational excellence. Applicants will have a passion for, and understanding of, personal development through the training process. You must have outstanding communication, presentation, and organizational skills while demonstrating a positive, motivational, and professional appearance. A strong sense of ownership and accountability is expected. Instructors will provide support to students and fellow staff members, work in a lab setting providing hands-on instruction with safety in mind, keep accurate records of student achievement, and an ability to maintain discipline in a classroom setting. In this role, you will work within the Quality Systems organization supporting the development of the Production team.
What You’ll Do- Create and maintain documentation (lesson plans, instructor guides, visuals, etc.) to support the overall structured manufacturing training program.
- Facilitate new hire Production Associates through all phases of the structured manufacturing training program, including extended onboarding.
- Document attendance and evaluate assessments and/or feedback for all training activities.
- Qualify production line personnel as On-the-Job trainers.
- Provide on-shift training support for production associates and production line leadership, as required.
- Benchmark actual workstation production sequence/conditions against current job-task list and training program materials.
- Solicit, document, and disposition feedback from respective production line leadership
- Deliver other required training, as assigned.
- Review and update department program documentation and production Manufacturing Instructions, as assigned.
- Determine appropriate training method for Manufacturing Instructions updates.
- Present key items related to onboarding and continuous training
- Support the Company’s mission, vision, values, and goals in performance of daily activities.
- 3 years of production operations experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
- 1 years of experience in a hands-on training role (Lead, Supervisor, Trainer).
- Excellent communication skills, including:
- Creation and delivery of effective training in both written and oral formats
- Conveying technical product/process information.
- Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of management
- Comfortable speaking in front of large audiences.
- Understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design, or education.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize in a highly dynamic production environment.
- Open collaborative style: the ability to work both in a team environment and autonomously with minimal supervision or direction.
- Curiosity to understand the strategic priorities of Tesla:
- How learning and development can best address skill and knowledge gaps in the workforce.
- How training systems support the company’s mission.
- Proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
