Packaging Engineer
Our client in Fort Worth, Tx is looking for a Packaging Engineer to join their team. The Packaging Engineer will be creative and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary to converse with existing and potential customers, to discern their packaging needs, and render feasible design solutions. Maintain knowledge of industry practices and material specifications from the wood, foam, and corrugated industries.
Responsibilities:
- Develops sketches, specifications, samples, written analyses, and designs of proposed packaging.
- Devises prototype packaging using appropriate materials, such as folding carton, wire cut or molded foam, plastic, film, or foil, shrink wrap, and appropriate corrugated or other form of shipping container.
- Interoperates customer design data to provide 2D drawings for quoting customer designs.
- Offer customers original packaging design solutions.
- Plans and directs activities concerned with design and development of packaging containers for attractive and safe shipping of finished products under varying conditions, such as shock, vibration, compression, temperature, environment, and methods of transportation.
- Develops Highly Customized Crates and Pallets.
- Conducts customer site visits as needed.
- New employee training on estimating protocols.
- 35% Support for design team estimating and data management tasks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Strong 3D CAD capabilities preferably SOLIDWORKS
- Background in lumber remanufacturing, woodworking and or similar field preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with packaging substrates such as wood, foam, and corrugated fiberboard.
- Analytical thinker with a strong basis on data gathering and analysis.
- Energetic, organized, and able to manage a wide range of projects and priorities.
- Excellent communicator and understanding of importance to ‘do what you say’.
- Familiarity of ERP systems and methods of scheduling, inventory, and shipping.
- Strong computer skills with advanced experience in the Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work remotely in a team environment.
Salary : $100,000 - $125,000
