The Director of Environmental Services (EVS) provides strategic and operational leadership for all environmental services functions to ensure a clean, safe, sanitary and visually pleasing environment. This role is responsible for regulatory compliance, infection prevention support, staff leadership, budget management, performance improvement, and alignment with organizational values, quality and Member experience goals.
Essential Job Functions:
- Lead, direct, and manage all Environmental Services operations, including housekeeping, floor care, waste management, laundry services, and special cleaning projects.
- Develop and implement EVS policies, procedures, and performance standards consistent with regulatory requirements and community standards.
- Partner Safety, Facilities, and Clinical leadership to support infection control and Member safety initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to environmental hygiene, hazardous materials, and workplace safety.
- Develop, manage, and control departmental budgets, including labor, supplies, equipment, and contracted services.
- Establish staffing models, scheduling practices, and productivity benchmarks to meet service-level expectations.
- Recruit, hire, train, coach, and evaluate EVS Leadership and frontline staff; promote engagement, accountability, and professional development.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using data, audits, and performance metrics (e.g., cleaning effectiveness, Member feedback, safety inspections).
- Manage vendor contracts, service agreements, and equipment procurement.
- Respond to urgent environmental needs, emergency preparedness activities, and disaster response.
- Promote a culture of service excellence, teamwork, and respect aligned with Terwilliger Plaza’s Mission and Values.
- Perform other duties as required.

- Frequently (34-66%) bending, stooping, lift/carry/push/pull/transfer up to 25-50 lbs
