We are seeking a Phlebotomist to support the Veteran community in the Reno, NV area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals.

Position Highlights

  • Logistics:
    • Pay: $20.98
    • Schedule: Monday through Friday. All Shifts
      • Lead Phlebotomist:
        • Draw Station: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
      • Phlebotomist Positions:
        • Draw Station: 7:00 AM – 1:30 PM
        • Processing Area: 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
        • Processing Area & Floor Draws: 1:30 PM – 9:00 PM
        • Processing Area & Floor Draws: 9:00 PM – 5:30 AM
    • Requirements:
      • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
      • National or state-recognized phlebotomy certification (e.g., CPT ASCP, NHA, AMT)
      • Previous experience with the VA is a plus.
      • Previous experience as a phlebotomist is a plus.

What does a typical day look like for the Phlebotomist?

You Will

  • Monday through Friday. All Shifts.
  • Provide a full range of phlebotomy procedures, on-site, using Government-furnished facilities, equipment, and supplies.
  • Process patients before specimen collection, including review of paperwork accompanying patients and cordial guidance and assistance.
  • Collect blood samples using the Vacutainer blood collection system or a syringe with a needle/butterfly when necessary.
  • Perform proper veni-puncture, finger stick procedures, and other tests identified by CLIA 88 regulations as being waived, using appropriate techniques.
  • Perform set-up and completion of special test-related phlebotomy procedures utilizing appropriate techniques.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety protocols.
  • Perform phlebotomy-related administrative and clerical procedures of the Front Desk Section of the Lab.
  • Fully document all samples obtained per the laboratory's standard operating procedures.
  • Interacting with other employees and lab management to provide efficient specimen processing service to patients. perform centrifugation procedures as instructed by lab management.
  • Collect and process urine samples for both and/or timed collections for testing. Correctly
  • Deliver collected blood and urine samples to the appropriate departments at determined times.

What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the professional we're looking for if you have:

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
  • National or state-recognized phlebotomy certification (e.g., CPT ASCP, NHA, AMT)
  • Previous experience with the VA is a plus.
  • Previous experience as a phlebotomist is a plus.

If selected, candidates will need to complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes. This includes a physical examination and healthcare worker certification completed within 60 days prior to assignment start.
