What are the responsibilities and job description for the After-School Bus Driver position at Terre Haute Boys & Girls Club?
The After-School Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting Boys & Girls Club members from local schools to the Terre Haute Boys & Girls Club each afternoon. This position plays an important role in ensuring members arrive safely and on time while providing a positive and welcoming experience.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday (School Days)
- Approximately 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM (Hours may vary based on school dismissal times and routes.)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely transport Club members from assigned schools to the Boys & Girls Club.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful environment on the bus.
- Follow all traffic laws, state regulations, and Boys & Girls Club transportation policies.
- Communicate with Club staff regarding attendance, route changes, delays, or incidents.
- Complete required transportation logs and reports.
- Keep the bus clean and ready for daily use.
- Assist members with boarding and exiting the vehicle when needed.
- Respond appropriately in emergency situations and follow Club emergency procedures.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with appropriate endorsements (CDL if required by state or vehicle type).
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check and any required drug screening.
- Ability to work well with children and maintain a positive attitude.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to safely operate a passenger vehicle or bus.
- Ability to assist children entering and exiting the bus.
- Ability to sit, bend, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Working Conditions
- Daily afternoon transportation during the school year.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Frequent interaction with school personnel, Club staff, and youth.
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
