What are the responsibilities and job description for the Press Operator (Local Candidates Only) position at TerraSlate Waterproof Paper & Menus?
The Ideal Candidate
Are you methodical, precise, and someone who takes genuine pride in a job done right? Do you thrive in a structured environment where quality is measurable, consistency is expected, and the standard doesn't move?
Are you someone who spots a problem before it becomes a waste run, and stops the press rather than hoping it works itself out? Do you take ownership of your equipment, your output, and your process without needing to be asked?
In this role, you will report to the Production Manager and be responsible for operating our digital press to produce the waterproof and rip-proof paper products that drive TerraSlate's revenue. The quality that leaves your press is the quality our customers experience.
Here at TerraSlate, we have a high-accountability culture driven by our Core Values of Grit, Focus, Growth, and Candor. If you thrive in fast-moving, performance-driven environments where the details matter and the work speaks for itself, you will love it here.
Opportunity
In this role, prior experience is not required. We will train you on the job, and you will also get to spend two weeks learning quality control prior to running a press so that you have time to learn what’s important to look for, and get your feet under you.
As a Press Operator, you will serve as a critical part of the team that keeps TerraSlate's production engine running. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role where your work directly impacts product quality, on-time fulfillment, and customer satisfaction. You are expected to bring your craft, operate with precision, and hold a high standard every shift, not just when someone is watching.
At TerraSlate, we offer more than just a job. We offer a chance to join a high-growth, Entrepreneurial Operating System® (EOS) driven company that has transformed an industry. Our waterproof and rip-proof paper ships to customers in over 120 countries, is trusted by the NFL, the U.S. military, and is the backbone of a company that has scaled past $40M in revenue without outside capital. The work you do on the press floor is a direct part of that story.
If you take pride in your work, hold yourself to a high standard, and want to be part of a team that actually wins, this is your seat.
Please only apply if you are currently living in the Denver Metro Area. We do not consider remote, hybrid, or candidates living outside the Denver Metro Area. Relocation is not available for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Press Operations — Operate TerraSlate's digital press to produce waterproof and rip-proof paper products to spec, on time, and at the quality standard our customers expect. You own your output from setup to the final stack.
- Job Preparation & Review — Read and interpret job tickets, select the correct paper stock, configure press settings, and identify any discrepancies before a run begins — not after.
- Setup, Alignment & Calibration — Prepare and configure rollers, registration, ink profiles, and paper feed for each job. Every run starts dialed in.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting — Perform routine preventative maintenance and immediately escalate mechanical anomalies to the Production Manager or outside technical service to prevent downtime.
- Waste Reduction — Monitor waste as a performance metric. Stop a run when something is off. Be intentional about every sheet that runs through the press.
- Quality Control — Inspect output throughout each run and catch defects early. The standard doesn't move because the deadline is approaching.
- Internal Communication — Connect with production leadership and the account management team as needed to confirm order details or relay production updates.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and execute job tickets accurately with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and a personal standard for quality that doesn't require reminders.
- Proactive approach to equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-output environment where priorities can shift.
- Reliable, punctual, and accountable. You show up consistently, and you follow through with care.
- Strong communication skills for both internal coordination and occasional customer-facing interactions.
- Experience with digital printing on specialty substrates is a plus.
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Currently based in the Denver metro area; on-site presence required 5 days per week. This is not a remote or hybrid position.
- The expectation is that, with ample on-the-job training, you will be operating independently within 30 to 45 days of onboarding.
