Terraphase Engineering is seeking a Environmental Field Technician to join our team in our Oakland, Pleasanton, or Sacramento offices.
The Role
· Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times
· Gain experience in environmental consulting, focusing on building related hazardous materials and industrial hygiene services, including surveys and assessments of asbestos, lead, mold, indoor air quality, and other hazardous materials, as well as industrial hygiene investigations
· Conduct building related environmental, indoor air quality, and health & safety assessments, as well as assist with project design and monitoring contractor activities during remediation projects. The position will focus on asbestos, lead, mold, water intrusion, and indoor air quality projects
· Conduct environmental site assessment sampling (air, soil, soil vapor, surface water, and groundwater)
· Technicians will spend the majority of their time at project sites in their respective areas and occasionally throughout California. Technicians will also prepare reports and other project documents related to field operations
· Maintain accurate field logs and documentation of sampling and monitoring activities
· Work with minimal supervision, learn quickly, and possess excellent problem-solving skills
· Work with project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
Who You Are
· College degree (BS, MS, MPH) in a science-related field is required
· Energetic and interested in building science and systems as well as environmental health & safety concerns
· 2 years’ experience working as a hazardous building materials technician or environmental field technician
· OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER and 10/30-Hour Construction Safety certifications or ability to obtain
· Cal/OSHA Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) or Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) certification (Required)
· CDPH Lead Inspector/Assessor or Sampling Technician or ability to obtain
· Worked in construction, environmental consulting, or industrial hygiene fields
· A valid driver’s license and clean driving record
· Ability to work independently as well as in a team
· Excellent written and oral communications skills
· Willing to travel to perform field work
· Willing to perform work in “off-hours” (weekends and night work)

Salary
Compensation for this position is based on years of experience, technical expertise, technical education, and geographic location with a range of $69,000-$80,000.
