This role oversees laboratory workflow, quality standards, team coordination, and operational efficiency while fostering a culture centered on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Essential Roles And Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations
- Assist the laboratory manager coordinating daily laboratory testing activities for soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates.
- Ensure testing is completed accurately and in compliance with ASTM, DOT, and project specifications.
- Review laboratory reports, documentation, and quality records for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with troubleshooting equipment, testing procedures, and operational issues.
- Performs construction and geotechnical related laboratory testing
- Model the behaviors, professionalism, and culture you expect from our team.
- Lead and support laboratory staff through coaching, communication, and accountability.
- Prioritize workloads and coordinate schedules to meet client and project deadlines.
- Foster a professional, team-oriented environment focused on quality and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a strong representative of the organization with clients, field teams, and internal partners.
- Maintain organized laboratory records, certifications, and documentation.
- Support inventory management and ordering of laboratory supplies and materials.
- Communicate testing updates and operational priorities with project teams and leadership.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Geology, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction materials testing laboratory operations.
- Knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT testing standards.
- Experience with laboratory quality systems and accreditation processes preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as ACI, NICET, or DOT certifications preferred.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and laboratory reporting software.
