Purpose of Position:
To provide skilled nursing care focused on the identification, treatment, documentation, and follow-up of patient wounds. This includes implementing physician-ordered wound treatments, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with safety and infection control standards.
Essential Job Functions:
This role includes, but is not limited to, the following core responsibilities:
Responsibilities and Duties:
Wound Care:
- Administer wound treatments as per physician orders.
- Monitor and report changes in residents' skin conditions.
- Complete and present Skin Condition Reports weekly, monthly, and quarterly.
- Ensure treatment orders are detailed and clearly written.
- Conduct weekly wound rounds with Wound Care Physicians.
- Maintain and stock Treatment Carts on each unit.
- Manage and order Medicare Part B wound care supplies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date administration records.
- Ensure timely completion of all treatments.
- Follow aseptic, isolation, and infection control procedures at all times.
- Support communicable disease monitoring and hazardous condition reporting.
New Admissions:
- Conduct skin assessments within 24 hours of admission.
- Complete and scan skin assessment sheets into the resident's medical record.
- Recommend appropriate treatment plans and monitor progress.
Inventory Management:
- Recommend equipment and supply needs for wound care.
- Support cost-effective inventory control procedures.
- Inspect supplies and equipment regularly for proper function and availability.
- Ensure staff are trained and authorized to operate equipment safely.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
- Licensed Nurse in good standing with the State of Florida.
- Level II background screening with eligible status required.
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug screenings.
Qualifications:
- Proven knowledge of wound care, including assessment, cleaning, dressing, and monitoring.
- Experience developing and implementing treatment plans.
- Strong understanding of infection control techniques.
- Skilled in documentation and outcome tracking.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Prior experience with geriatric skin conditions preferred.
- Familiarity with nursing and medical practices in Long-Term Care.
- Strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
