The Resident Ambassador – New Admissions is responsible for creating a welcoming, supportive, and professional experience for new residents and their families. The role ensures smooth transitions into the facility while maintaining high standards of care, safety, and communication. The position reports to the Facility Administrator.
Key Responsibilities
1. Resident & Family Experience
- Welcome new residents and families warmly
- Provide orientation to the facility, room, policies, and staff
- Answer questions or direct them to the appropriate staff
- Offer appropriate food/beverages based on dietary restrictions
- Support residents emotionally during their first few days
2. Admission Preparation
- Review admission documents (diet, medical needs, cognitive status)
- Ensure the room is clean, safe, and fully prepared before arrival
- Confirm equipment (call bell, bed, signage) is functional
3. Ongoing Support (First 3 Days)
- Visit new residents daily to check on their transition
- Identify concerns and ensure timely resolution
- Communicate issues to appropriate staff or Administrator
4. Communication & Coordination
- Act as a liaison between residents, families, and staff
- Avoid giving incorrect information—refer when unsure
- Do not make promises about services or accommodations
- Report delays in care or response times
5. Safety & Compliance
- Follow infection control and safety procedures
- Report hazards, suspicious activity, or abuse immediately
- Understand emergency/disaster procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information
6. Administrative Duties
- Document required information
- Ensure residents receive ID bands and proper room setup
- Use computers as directed
- Participate in inspections (“Angel Rounds”)
7. Training & Development
- Attend required in-services and training (OSHA, CDC, etc.)
- Stay updated on regulations and facility policies
8. Resident Rights
- Respect privacy, dignity, and autonomy
- Knock before entering rooms
- Honor the resident’s right to refuse care
Work Environment
- Fast-paced with frequent interruptions
- Interaction with residents, families, and staff
- May involve emotionally difficult situations
- Exposure to healthcare risks (illness, chemicals, etc.)
- May require weekends, extended hours, or emergency call-ins
Requirements
Education
- High school diploma (required)
- Associate degree (preferred)
Experience
- No experience required (training provided)
- Healthcare or customer service experience preferred
