Job Summary:
The Loom Operator will be responsible for operating machines to weave the product and monitor progress as the device weaves the material. Some of the daily duties and responsibilities of a Loom Operator will include:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must conduct work in a safe manner, following all company required safe work rules. Report any accidents, near misses and/or unsafe conditions immediately
- Attend all required safety training
- Operating machines for test runs to verify adjustments and to obtain product samples
- Assist Loom Technician with any necessary tasks that involve loom setup procedures
- Repair loom stops as necessary to maintain maximum loom efficiency
- Walk warp alleys to prevent wraps and warps, or issues which may cause loom to stop
- Flag looms for fixer that require either mechanical or quality adjustments
- Control quality by ensuring proper filling is being used
- Maintains good housekeeping as necessary
- Study guides, loom patterns, samples, charts, or specifications sheets, or conferring with supervisors or engineering staff to determine setup requirements
- Programming electronic equipment
- Repairing or replacing worn or defective needles and other components, using hand tools
- Observing weaving to detect exhausted filling packages and replacing exhausted packages with full packages
- Examine finished product for defects and variations, reporting faults in machines, and carrying out quality control procedures
- All other duties assigned
Qualification and Skill Requirements:
- Self-starter who is comfortable working independently, effectively manages multiple tasks and achieves results with minimal supervision
- Must have a positive attitude, be willing to quickly adapt to changing situations, have strong communication skills, and a strong will to build and maintain productive relationships across departments
- Flexible & Adaptable with ability and desire to learn
- Understanding and Knowledge of Machine Operations
- Must be able to work Independent
Education and Experience:
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years of Previous Weaving Experience
- Must use cognitive reasoning skills to adjust on equipment to ensure quality
- Must be able to develop and execute plans for daily work routine in an efficient and effective manner
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work a full-time schedule
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
- Must be able to stand and walk for majority of shift
- Manual dexterity
- Routinely stand, squat, lift, bend/and or twist during scheduled shift
- Visual acuity
- Must be willing to operate forklift
- Work in varying physical conditions
- Work in climate-controlled area
