We are seeking a motivated and experienced Excavator Operator to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating excavators and other heavy machinery to efficiently complete excavation, grading, and site preparation tasks. Your expertise will help ensure construction projects progress smoothly, safely, and on schedule. Responsibilities
- Operate excavators and related construction machinery such as dozers, backhoes, graders, loaders, water trucks, dump trucks, and tankers to perform excavation, grading, trenching, and site clearing activities.
- Conduct routine maintenance and mechanical inspections on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Follow federal construction safety regulations and safety protocols diligently to maintain a safe work environment for all team members.
- Utilize utility locating techniques to identify underground utilities before excavation work begins, preventing damage or accidents.
- Coordinate with project managers and other crew members to execute construction plans accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with the operation of horizontal drilling equipment and paving machinery as needed for specialized tasks.
- Maintain detailed records of daily operations, equipment usage, and safety checks to ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
Experience
- Proven experience operating heavy construction machinery such as excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, backhoes, water trucks, dump trucks, tankers, and horizontal drilling equipment.
- Strong knowledge of construction site safety regulations and federal safety standards related to heavy equipment operation.
- Demonstrated ability to perform routine maintenance on construction machinery including Caterpillar (CAT) equipment models.
- Prior experience working on large-scale construction projects with a focus on utility installation, paving, or site development.
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience in commercial truck driving is preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot basic issues with heavy equipment.
- Familiarity with construction site protocols such as utility locating and adherence to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines.
