Construction Superintendent

Position Overview
Terra Nova is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee and manage construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, specifically in single family residential planned communities and commercial construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily construction activities and ensure compliance with safety and building regulations.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors and labor on site to ensure project timelines are met.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality control assessments to maintain high standards.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, architects, and clients to provide updates and address any issues.
- Prepare and maintain project schedules and budgets, ensuring all resources are utilized efficiently.
- Resolve any conflicts or issues that arise during the construction process to minimize delays.
Field Management & Coordination
- Direct and oversee daily site activities, including earthwork, grading, utilities, stormwater systems, road construction, and other infrastructure installations.
- Monitor contractor productivity, schedule adherence, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Coordinate inspections with municipal and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with permitting and code requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site.
Scheduling & Communication
- Work closely with the Project Manager to implement and maintain project schedules.
- Conduct daily site meetings or tailgate talks with contractors and crews.
- Provide clear communication between field teams, office staff, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Report progress, delays, and issues promptly, recommending solutions to keep the project on track.
Quality Control & Safety
- Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, and engineering drawings to ensure accurate implementation.
- Conduct regular quality control checks to verify workmanship meets company and municipal standards.
- Enforce OSHA compliance and company safety policies, performing routine safety audits and documentation.
Administrative & Reporting
- Maintain daily logs, as-built documentation, and field reports.
- Track deliveries, material quantities, and subcontractor hours.
- Assist with RFIs (Requests for Information) and change order documentation when needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Superintendent in the construction industry, specifically ground up projects. Ground up experience required.
- Strong knowledge of construction procedures, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively manage teams and liaise with stakeholders.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Proficient in project management software and tools.
- 5 years of experience in site supervision, civil construction, or land development.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction processes, including grading, utilities, storm drainage, and paving.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting civil engineering plans and specifications.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Proficient with construction management software, scheduling tools, and basic MS Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites daily.
Preferred
- OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain).
- Experience with residential subdivision development or municipal infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of erosion control, SWPPP compliance, and municipal inspection processes.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
