Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable, hands-on Grounds Keeper and Maintenance Tech to join our team at a busy retail center. This role is responsible for day-to-day maintenance, minor repairs, and portering/groundskeeping tasks to help keep the property clean, safe, and presentable for tenants and customers.
Duties
- Perform daily site inspections and general maintenance tasks
- Handle basic plumbing, electrical, painting, and repair work
- Maintain cleanliness of common areas, including restrooms, corridors, and entryways
- Perform exterior upkeep, including litter removal, bin management, and seasonal tasks
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies -
- Report larger maintenance issues to the Facilities Manager
- Follow all safety and compliance procedures
Skills
- Prior experience in a general maintenance or facilities support role
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general repair work a plus
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Physically capable of lifting, carrying, and performing manual work
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends or holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with commercial roofing systems (inspection and light repair)
- Skills in basic masonry and concrete repair
- Proficiency in using pressure washing equipment
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance procedures and tools, including fire suppression and fire panel systems
