COMMERCIAL MANAGER

Description:
As part of a passionate and accomplished team, you will be the commercial lead in developing and advancing a technical commercial strategy to deploy alternative cement materials (ACM), blended cement materials (BCM), and supplemental cement materials (SCM). The position requires a solid engineering foundation coupled with seasoned sales and marketing skills.
Collaboration will be required within Terra across operations and with commercial partners as we seek optimal solutions that support a variety of customers. In a fast-paced and changing environment, you will contribute to innovative solutions, while demonstrating personal leadership, strong technical judgment and competence, and a passion for the highest technical standards. This position will directly impact the future of the environment by reducing millions of tons of CO2 and NOx emissions. It will require your dedicated commitment and attention towards safe and reliable technology to sustainably and competitively produce eco-friendly cement at scale.
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Location: Golden, Colorado
Responsibilities:
- Functioned as the Terra commercial leader charged with developing go-to-market strategy and implementation.
- Develop in partnership with Terra science and engineering team strategy for material adoption across markets. Knowledge of ASTM and ACI cement and concrete specifications helpful and experience working with design engineers and highway departments.
- While this is an upper management role the Terra organization is still evolving and growing, requiring the ability to source future talent, know when to outsource to 3rd parties, and most importantly be capable of getting into the details when required.
- Help identify gaps between the materials engineering/operations/commercial solutions and requirements.
- Develop and lead Terra’s go-to-market strategy in cooperation with senior management.
- Support consistent technical deployment in partnership with other Terra managers across geographies and customers.
- Collaborate with company leadership to assess technology roadmap alignment with company goals, market needs, and industry developments.
- Assess and enforce engineering process health and accepted specification compliance with standards and best practices for Terra technology.
- Collaborate closely with Terra’s material science R & D group.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in an engineering or related technical degree, with 15 years of commercial experience with a reputable past employer(s).
- In addition to more traditional sales responsibilities, the role will also entail an early focus on speeding the adoption of Terra’s technology with customers, regulators, and specifiers.
- Terra is a small growing organization. Currently, all managers are required to be very
“hands-on” at times.
- Experience executing effective risk management practices.
- Highly organized team player with excellent technical written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated track record of resourcefulness, technical judgment, and a strong bias for action from their previous assignments.
- Fierce passion to drive successful completion of projects.
- Timeline-focused with a sense of urgency around project delivery is a must.
- Demonstrated ability to build cohesive and effective teams as Terra grows and moderate conflicts with teams.
- Must be able to hit the ground running and dig in quickly in our fast-paced environment.
- Experience with creating safety-critical environments.
- Documented sales and marketing experience success including bringing new products to market.
- Ability to travel, in support of increasing tempos of deployment of Terra technology across North America.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national and U.S. permanent resident
