What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Director position at TERI Inc?
Human Resources Director
TERI Inc. is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals with autism and other developmental differences. At the heart of that work are the people who show up every day — and the Director of HR & Talent is the leader who helps us find, develop, and retain them.
We're looking for a seasoned HR leader who thinks in systems, acts with intention, and brings genuine care to both strategy and execution. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll shape the people infrastructure that powers our mission — building a talent engine that is scalable, data-driven, and deeply human.
Your Role & Responsibilities –
This is a broad, high-impact role spanning five key areas:
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning (30%)
- Lead and grow the Talent Acquisition team — building capability, structure, and a culture of excellence.
- Own enterprise workforce planning, translating business goals into forward-looking hiring forecasts and talent pipelines.
- Design recruiting strategies that serve diverse hiring needs, from high-volume to specialized and leadership roles.
- Elevate our employer brand and candidate experience at every touchpoint, from sourcing through onboarding.
- Build recruiting metrics and accountability frameworks that drive continuous improvement.
- Partner with business leaders to define role clarity and future-state capability needs.
Talent Management & Leadership Development (30%)
- Design and implement an enterprise talent development system aligned to our mission and growth strategy.
- Lead leadership development programming — manager enablement, high-potential tracks, and executive readiness.
- Identify skill gaps through data and deploy targeted learning and development solutions.
- Drive internal mobility and career pathing frameworks that create opportunity and transparency.
- Partner on succession planning to ensure leadership continuity across critical roles.
- Support retention and engagement through development programs, feedback loops, and growth pathways.
HR Technology & Systems Optimization (20%)
- Own the HR technology ecosystem — HRIS, ATS, performance management, and learning platforms.
- Drive process optimization to eliminate manual work, reduce redundancies, and improve user experience.
- Ensure data integrity, governance, and system adoption across all HR tools.
- Lead system enhancements and implementations from requirements through rollout.
- Continuously evaluate emerging HR technologies to improve efficiency and employee experience.
HR Leadership & Functional Management (15%)
- Lead, coach, and develop your direct reports, building capability across talent functions.
- Partner with the HR Operations Director to align strategy, execution, and service delivery.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, IT, and business leaders on workforce and change initiatives.
- Champion continuous improvement, evolving HR practices to meet changing organizational needs.
People Analytics & Reporting (5%)
- Deliver executive-level people analytics that provide visibility into workforce trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Build and maintain dashboards integrating data across TA, talent development, and HR operations.
- Translate data into actionable insights that influence hiring, retention, and organizational design decisions.
Qualifications –
- 8 years of progressive HR leadership experience, with strong depth in talent acquisition, talent development, and HR systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading recruiting teams and scaling talent functions in growing organizations.
- Strong analytical capabilities — you know how to connect people data to business results.
- Experience implementing and optimizing HR technology platforms.
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Organizational Development, or related field; advanced degree or SHRM-SCP/SPHR preferred.
- Experience with nonprofits, mission-driven, or multi-industry organizations is a meaningful plus.
- Strong business acumen, communication skills, and the professional presence to serve as a trusted executive partner.
- A genuine ability to coach and develop leaders at multiple levels.
