Position: Vice President, Data Center Operational Excellence
Location: West Palm Beach, FL or New York, NY
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Position Summary
The VP, Data Center Operational Excellence will lead operational excellence across TeraWulf's growing portfolio of mission-critical data center campuses. This role is responsible for establishing and scaling best-in-class operational standards, ensuring world-class reliability, safety, and efficiency across all facilities. Working closely with the COO, Engineering, Construction, and Site Operations teams, the VP, Data Center Operations will build the operating model required to support hyperscale AI infrastructure while maintaining the highest standards of availability, compliance, and execution.
The successful candidate will drive operational consistency across the portfolio through standardized procedures, performance management, maintenance optimization, vendor oversight, and continuous improvement initiatives. This individual will play a critical role in preparing TeraWulf's operating platform for long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence & Governance
- Develop and implement standardized operating procedures (SOPs), methods of procedure (MOPs), emergency operating procedures (EOPs), and operational governance across all data center campuses.
- Establish operational standards, documentation, and audit processes that ensure consistent execution across multiple sites.
- Promote a culture of accountability, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.
Critical Infrastructure Operations
- Partner with site operations teams to develop and continuously improve the Critical Maintenance Management Program for all electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including utility interconnections, substations, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, cooling systems, and supporting infrastructure.
- Ensure preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs align with OEM recommendations, industry best practices, and uptime objectives.
Performance Management & Analytics
- Establish portfolio-wide operational KPIs and reporting.
- Utilize DCIM platforms, BMS/SCADA systems, and operational analytics to monitor reliability, capacity utilization, energy performance, maintenance compliance, and asset health.
- Identify operational risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies before they impact service delivery.
Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Lead operational audits across all facilities covering maintenance execution, safety, documentation, compliance, and operational readiness.
- Facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and lessons-learned programs following operational events.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reliability, efficiency, and scalability.
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Develop vendor performance standards and scorecards.
- Evaluate contractor performance against safety, quality, schedule, and operational metrics.
- Partner with Procurement and Site Operations to optimize vendor performance and operating costs.
Risk Management & Operational Readiness
- Oversee emergency preparedness, business continuity planning, incident response, fire and life safety, and physical security operational procedures.
- Ensure all campuses maintain operational readiness for mission-critical environments and meet customer SLA expectations.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Construction, Development, IT, and Site Operations teams to ensure operational considerations are incorporated throughout the facility lifecycle.
- Support commissioning, campus expansions, customer onboarding, and transition from construction to operations.
Qualifications
Experience
- 10 years of experience leading mission-critical operations within hyperscale, colocation, enterprise data centers, or other critical infrastructure environments.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing operations across multiple facilities or a geographically distributed portfolio.
- Experience building operational processes within a high-growth organization is strongly preferred.
Technical Expertise
- Deep understanding of mission-critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including substations, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, HVAC/chilled water systems, and critical cooling technologies.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), DCIM platforms, BMS/SCADA systems, and operational reporting tools.
Leadership
- Proven ability to build high-performing teams and lead cross-functional operational initiatives.
- Strong vendor management, organizational, and change management skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
Success Measures
- Maintain industry-leading infrastructure availability across the data center portfolio.
- Zero customer SLA violations attributable to operational failures.
- Consistent execution of standardized operational procedures across all campuses.
- Improved maintenance compliance, asset reliability, and operational readiness.

Compensation: (Depending on Experience) starting at $250,000
