The Tepa Companies are seeking a Vice President, Engineering Operations that will work closely with the Executive Vice President (EVP), Vice Presidents/Program Managers, Project Managers, and Staff Supervisors as needed to assist with business development, management, operations, staff, and production needs to:

About The Job
The Tepa Companies are seeking a Vice President, Engineering Operations that will work closely with the Executive Vice President (EVP), Vice Presidents/Program Managers, Project Managers, and Staff Supervisors as needed to assist with business development, management, operations, staff, and production needs to:
- Support and assist the BU Manager with development of strategic direction, organizational structure, and operational optimization.
- Directly manage Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, and staff
- Help promote the Tepa culture to employees and clients.
- Provide support to identification and pursuit of business opportunities.
- Develop and implement streamlined and standardized processes and procedures supporting Engineering BU operations consistent with Tepa organization policies.
- Assist with the overall management of operations in alignment with Tepa’s vision, core values, and goals.
- Provide project/program management, as needed, and help develop personnel and project management skills of others.
- Partner with Vice Presidents/Program Managers to implement direct management processes including, but not limited to, business development direction, contract management, and program/project team oversight.
- Supervise/manage the resource group managers and staff in the Engineering BU. Ensure technical staff are managed, mentored and trained to support the project managers and business line managers (VPs/Program Managers) in the Engineering BU.
- Assist with development of business plans and project staffing plans and assist Vice Presidents/Program Managers to meet the approved plans accordingly.
- Help manage the overall direction of the Engineering Division to meet or exceed the approved business plans.
- Ensure streamlined and standardized processes are developed to support effective Engineering BU operations, consistent with Tepa standards, for areas including safety, quality, project management, contracting and subcontracting, field readiness, proposal development and security.
- Ensure the Engineering BU complies with Tepa policies and procedures.
- Promote positive working support and collaboration with other Tepa divisions in BD efforts and project collaboration and staff resource support.
- Promote process improvement collaboration initiatives.
- Encourage activities that build comradery in the Engineering BU group to build job satisfaction and promote staff retention and recruitment.
- Assist with cost estimating and conduct review of estimates by others.
- Conduct monthly program/project reviews with project managers to evaluate each project’s performance, identify challenges as early as possible, collaborate on proactive solutions, and document and distribute lessons learned to others.
- Provide input on the selection of team members and selection of subcontractor(s).
- Support the Section Managers, Tepa Talent Management, and HR teams to ensure Tepa can effectively hire, coach/counsel, and terminate employees and subcontractors as needed.
- Assist project managers with technical issues, scheduling, cost control measures, administrative and customer service skills.
- Assist Vice Presidents/Program Managers in providing direction as needed in response to the customer/job issues, staffing issues, or site concerns.
- Help Vice Presidents/Program Managers ensure that Tepa is well apprised of all budgets, schedule, scope, quality, client satisfaction and lesson learned issues in a timely manner.
- Attend contract negotiations and contract dispute meetings, as necessary.
- Travel as needed to active projects, assess status, and assure the client that Tepa leadership is involved.
- Travel to Tepa meetings as requested.
- Perform project management duties for specific projects.
- Other duties as assigned by the Business Unit Manager or senior leadership.
- Master’s degree in engineering, business, or other related field and/or 12 years’ experience in a similar management-level position.
- 10 years’ experience developing cost estimates and developing proposals/bids.
- 10 years’ experience managing project teams as well as subcontractors.
- 15 years’ direct experience in progressively responsible positions with a strong emphasis on government contract management.
- Experience managing a diverse group of employees and contractors.
- Experience in an 8(a) organization
- Professional Registration (PE)
- Proven organizational leadership, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to keep and maintain confidential and secure records and information.
- Previous Tepa project management experience
- Previous experience in professional services organization
- Project Management Professional certification
Salary : $180,000 - $210,000
