Hardware Asset Management

  • Software Asset Management
  • Platform Engineering – 3 days on-site in the Charlotte Metro Area.

About The Opportunity

This organization is one of the nation's leading independent wealth management firms, supporting over 29,000 financial advisors and 1,200 institutions. Technology isn't a support function here — it's a core driver of how advisors serve millions of investors. The firm invested nearly $500 million in technology innovation and infrastructure in 2024 alone, delivering over 250 platform enhancements. The systems you build here underpin that scale, security, and reliability.

We need a ServiceNow developer who understands the ITAM business, not just the platform. You will build and maintain the technical foundation for both HAM and SAM — and you will be expected to know why each workflow matters to the asset count and the license position. This is not an order-taker role. You challenge requirements that don't make sense, identify data quality risks before they become audit problems, and refuse to build shortcuts that break reconciliation.

Core Responsibilities — Hardware Asset Management (HAM)

  • Build and maintain hardware lifecycle workflows: intake, deployment, transfer, loaner, refresh, and disposal
  • Configure asset tasks, stockrooms, hardware models, and model categories in HAM Pro
  • Integrate procurement systems (SAP, Coupa, Ariba) so every PO creates a traceable asset record
  • Configure Discovery scheduling, MID Server connectivity, and CI reconciliation rules
  • Build automated reconciliation checks that compare Discovery CIs to open asset records and flag variances
  • Automate disposal workflows: data sanitization tracking, certificate of destruction records, CMDB retirement

Core Responsibilities — Software Asset Management (SAM)

  • Build entitlement import integrations from contract/procurement systems into SAM Pro license records
  • Configure Content Library normalization rules — map publisher names, edition variations, and version patterns
  • Develop reconciliation automation that computes effective license positions and alerts on over-deployment
  • Build publisher metric calculations for Microsoft, Oracle (processor/named user), IBM (PVU/RVU), and VMware
  • Configure software request catalog items, approval flows, and blacklist enforcement automation
  • Build license recovery workflows triggered by CI retirement, user offboarding, and hardware disposal

HAM SAM Intersection — Your Responsibility

  • Every installed software record must trace to a known, managed hardware CI — build and enforce that relationship
  • Hardware disposal in HAM must automatically trigger license reclaim in SAM — no manual handoffs
  • Cross-module reporting: tie license compliance positions to the hardware lifecycle stage of the host devices
  • CMDB health dashboards that surface discovery gaps affecting both hardware counts and compliance data

Platform & Integration Work

  • Write Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, and Scheduled Jobs in GlideScript/JavaScript
  • Build REST integrations for procurement, ITSM, and HR systems via IntegrationHub or Scripted REST
  • Use Flow Designer for asset lifecycle orchestration — keep logic maintainable and documented
  • Manage update sets, Git source control, and dev/test/prod promotion practices
  • Participate in platform upgrades: test ITAM functionality and validate reconciliation post-upgrade

The Standard We Hold

  • You read the requirement, understand the business reason, and push back if the logic is flawed
  • You test against real data — asset management edge cases are where the count breaks
  • You do not close a ticket when the data is still wrong
  • You deliver with documentation: data flow diagrams, field mappings, test cases, runbooks

At this scale — with enterprise technology platforms touching tens of thousands of advisors and their clients — data integrity and system reliability are not optional. Your work directly supports the firm's ability to operate securely, compliantly, and at speed.

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years ServiceNow development with 2 years focused on HAM Pro and/or SAM Pro
  • Hands-on HAM Pro: lifecycle workflows, stockrooms, model categories, asset tasks
  • Hands-on SAM Pro: entitlements, publisher reconciliation, Content Library normalization, compliance reports
  • Proficiency in GlideScript — Business Rules, Script Includes, Scheduled Jobs, client scripting
  • Solid understanding of CMDB data model: CI classes, relationships, IRE, and CMDB health
  • Experience with ServiceNow Discovery, MID Server configuration, and CI reconciliation
  • REST integration experience using IntegrationHub or Scripted REST
  • ServiceNow CAD or CIS-ITAM certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ITOM Suite: Discovery, Service Mapping, Operational Intelligence
  • Integration experience with SAP Ariba, Coupa, or Oracle ERP
  • Familiarity with SCCM, Jamf, or Tanium as discovery/inventory data sources
  • Git and ServiceNow Studio source control experience
  • Background in regulated industries — financial services, healthcare, or federal — a strong plus
