Accommodation Coordinator

About The Role

Our client, a financial services regulatory organization, is looking to add an Employees Relations/ Accommodations Coordinator to their Human Resources team based in Rockville, MD. The Accommodation Coordinator serves as the organization’s primary expert and point of contact for all employee accommodation requests. This is a high-volume, high-impact role requiring a balance of legal knowledge, operational discipline, and genuine empathy for employees navigating sensitive personal circumstances.

This role handles approximately 500 accommodation requests annually and is expected to deliver consistent, timely, and compliant outcomes across a diverse and growing workforce.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for all medical and religious accommodation requests
  • Lead and facilitate the interactive accommodation process directly with employees
  • Review, assess, and respond to accommodation requests in a high-volume environment with strong attention to turnaround time. Strong focus on quick turnaround times and consistent, compliant decision-making
  • Partner closely with HR, leadership, and legal to determine appropriate, compliant solutions
  • Facilitate sensitive, confidential conversations with professionalism and empathy
  • Document all decisions and communications accurately and consistently
  • Escalate complex or high-risk cases to the appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Contribute to process improvements and policy refinements related to accommodation practices

Experience

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years of relevant HR experience
  • Background in one or more of the following areas:
    • HR benefits administration
    • Disability or leave management
    • Broader HR roles with responsibility for accommodations, employee relations, risk assessment, or performance
  • Working knowledge of accommodation and leave processes, including familiarity with ADA, FMLA, and Title VII frameworks
Skills & Competencies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to assess risk across accommodation, leave, and broader HR considerations
  • Highly organized with proven ability to manage high request volumes and competing priorities
  • Comfortable handling confidential and sensitive employee information with discretion
  • Collaborative, professional, and detail-oriented approach to cross-functional work
  • Empathetic communication style with the ability to hold firm on compliant outcomes

Compensation & Work Arrangement

Work Location

  • Onsite 3 days per week at our Rockville, MD office (hybrid schedule REQUIRED)

Employment Type

  • W2 contract engagement. C2C arrangements are not available. This has the opportunity to be a long term contract & has the potential to possibly convert to perm with our client.
  • We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role

Compensation

  • Hourly rate: $35–$40/hr, commensurate with experience
  • This is an hourly contract role. No paid time off (PTO) is included.
  • Benefits are available on a contributory basis
