Safety Coordinator

Position Summary

Tensik Industries is seeking a Safety Coordinator responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company’s occupational health and safety programs.

This position will maintain an active presence throughout the fabrication shop, warehouse, paint areas, welding operations, material-handling activities, equipment assembly, and concrete batch plant installation projects.

The primary objective of this role is to prevent accidents, reduce operational risks, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and Tensik Industries’ internal safety policies.

The Safety Coordinator will work directly with production employees, supervisors, engineers, contractors, and management to maintain a safety culture based on prevention, accountability, training, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain Tensik Industries’ occupational health and safety program.
• Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA regulations, state requirements, and internal safety policies.
• Conduct daily and weekly inspections of the fabrication shop, warehouse, yard, and work areas.
• Identify unsafe conditions, at-risk behaviors, and opportunities for improvement.
• Stop any operation that presents an immediate danger to employees, contractors, or visitors.
• Prepare Job Hazard Analyses, Job Safety Analyses, and risk assessments for critical activities.
• Implement and monitor Lockout/Tagout procedures for electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment.
• Oversee safety practices related to welding, cutting, industrial painting, lifting operations, work at heights, confined spaces, and machinery operation.
• Verify the proper selection and use of personal protective equipment.
• Maintain current Safety Data Sheets for paints, chemicals, gases, and other hazardous materials.
• Coordinate permits for hot work, confined-space entry, and other high-risk activities.
• Develop and lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee training programs.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, property damage, and near misses.
• Prepare root-cause analyses and corrective-action plans.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, training, incidents, certifications, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate emergency-response, evacuation, first-aid, and fire-prevention programs.
• Inspect fire extinguishers, emergency equipment, eyewash stations, and first-aid kits.
• Oversee the safe operation of forklifts, cranes, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, and rigging equipment.
• Verify that operators and employees maintain all required training and certifications.
• Work with production supervisors to implement and close corrective actions.
• Evaluate the safety performance of vendors, subcontractors, temporary employees, and field-service personnel.
• Participate in production and planning meetings to identify hazards before work begins.
• Support installation, service, and commissioning activities at customer job sites when required.
• Prepare for internal audits and assist during inspections by regulatory authorities, insurance representatives, or third-party auditors.
• Promote a culture in which every employee is responsible for their own safety and the safety of others.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience in industrial safety, manufacturing, construction, metal fabrication, heavy equipment, or a related environment.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations applicable to manufacturing and construction.
• Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, fall protection, machine guarding, and personal protective equipment requirements.
• Ability to identify mechanical, electrical, chemical, pneumatic, and hydraulic hazards.
• Experience investigating accidents and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Ability to conduct training and communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
• Willingness to work directly within production and field environments rather than primarily from an office.
• Strong organizational, documentation, and follow-up skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar business software.
• Availability to visit project sites and customer facilities when required.
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 30 certification.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Forklift, aerial-lift, or mobile-equipment trainer certification.
• Experience in structural steel fabrication, welding, industrial painting, heavy manufacturing, or machinery production.
• Experience with safety-management systems based on ISO 45001.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.

The Safety Coordinator’s performance will be evaluated based on:

• Reduction in workplace accidents and incidents.

• Compliance with OSHA requirements and internal policies.
• Employee participation in safety programs.

• Continuous improvement of shop, warehouse, yard, and job-site conditions.

Position Authority

The Safety Coordinator will have the authority to temporarily stop any activity that presents an immediate danger to the life, health, or safety of employees, contractors, visitors, equipment, or company property.

Work may resume only after the hazard has been evaluated and appropriate controls have been implemented.

Work Environment

This position requires frequent presence in industrial fabrication environments involving welding, steel cutting, industrial painting, mechanical assembly, electrical work, pneumatic systems, material handling, equipment testing, and concrete batch plant manufacturing.

The Safety Coordinator must wear the required personal protective equipment and be prepared to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
