Position Summary
The Landscape Consultant is responsible for generating new business, cultivating client relationships, and guiding customers through the design and installation process for residential and/or commercial landscape projects. This role combines sales expertise, landscape knowledge, and project management coordination to ensure an exceptional client experience from initial inquiry through project completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Client Acquisition
Prospect, qualify, and pursue new residential and commercial landscape sales opportunities.
Respond to inbound leads promptly and maintain ongoing follow-up to convert prospects into clients.
Conduct site visits to evaluate customer needs, gather measurements, and assess project feasibility.
Consultation & Design Collaboration:
Lead client consultations to understand aesthetic preferences, functional needs, and budget.
Provide recommendations for landscape design, plant selection, hardscape features, irrigation, drainage, and outdoor living elements.
Collaborate with in-house designers or external design teams to develop proposals and conceptual plans.
Estimating & Proposal Development
Prepare accurate estimates, proposals, and scope-of-work documents.
Present proposals to clients, answer questions, and revise plans to meet budget and design requirements.
Negotiate contracts and close sales while maintaining profitability targets.
Project Coordination
Work closely with project managers, crew leaders, and purchasing teams to ensure smooth handoff after sale.
Stay engaged during installation to monitor progress, maintain client communication, and resolve concerns.
Ensure projects meet quality standards and are completed on schedule.
Customer Service & Relationship Management
Build and maintain long-term relationships to promote repeat business and referrals.
Serve as a trusted advisor, offering insight on landscape maintenance, seasonal services, and enhancement opportunities.
Conduct post-project follow-ups to ensure satisfaction.

Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in landscape sales, design/build, horticulture, construction, or related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of plants, outdoor environments, and landscape construction methods is a plus.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to read or create basic landscape plans (CAD, sketches, or design software) is beneficial.
- Competence in estimating, budgeting, and contract negotiation.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client sites.
