Consumer Loan Originator

JOB SUMMARY:
Demonstrates a highly motivated, positive, outgoing, influential personality with a strong emphasis on sales and results orientation to ensure the credit union maximizes lending and sales opportunities with members who apply for a consumer loan. Consistently demonstrates the ability to think independently, outside the box, by effectively responding to each individual member’s unique situation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interacts with loan applicants and conducts loan interview to determine needs and match Credit Union products to the need.
• Processes accurate loan applications in real time. Determines collateral value securing the loan and submits this information, along with credit information and all other applicable details of the loan request, to the Underwriter and/or Processor in an accurate and timely manner.
• Conducts credit review, including pulling credit reports to determine applicable indebtedness ratios and identify loan recapture and cross-selling opportunities. Develop referral relationships to increase loan volume.
• Manages loan application work queue effectively with minimal wait time to members. Manage high volume of member interactions from various channels: Phone, Video, Web loans, Referrals.
• Serves as a resource to employees on Origination questions.
• Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and TVFCU policies and procedures as related to assigned products. 
• Maintains knowledge of Consumer Lending Policies and Procedures with the ability to apply its contents to origination decisions.
• Maximizes all sales opportunities. Ability to present value in ancillary products that would benefit members. Willing to embrace sales-oriented pay plan that can fluctuate based on production volume and sales goals.
• Thoroughly and clearly communicate in written form the details of the loan request to the Underwriter and the Processor.
• Effectively communicate the loan decision to the member and to advise member on how to improve their lending profile for future requests when applicable.
• Build a sound relationship with every member.
• Thoroughly review all accounts on a member’s credit report to determine what payments should be included in the member’s indebtedness ratios.
• Maintain knowledge of branch operations by completing Deposit Regulation and Product and Service Certification courses.
• Proactively demonstrate the TVFCU core values of integrity, honesty, flexibility, teamwork, leadership, accountability and strong relationships in every interaction with members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred. 
• Previous sales experience preferred, especially in financial services, lending, or banking environments.
• Experience with financial calculations and consumer loan applications, including auto, personal, and credit card loans. 
• Ability to quickly navigate lending software and process loan applications efficiently.
• Familiarity with lending calculators and finance computations.
• Experience with industry-specific software (e.g., Symitar, Temenos) is a plus.
• Knowledgeable in Credit Union lending policy and lending regulations including but not limited to: Reg B, Reg Z, FACTA & FCRA, Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA).
• Strong active listening skills with the ability to understand and address member needs effectively.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle objections in a professional manner.
• Demonstrated ability to provide excellent member service and build relationships with members.
• Ability to remain focused and productive while working in a call center environment, including extended periods of sitting and handling a high volume of inbound and outbound phone calls.
