What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Relations Manager position at Tennessee Medical Association?
This position plays a key role in driving the growth and retention of membership while elevating awareness of the Tennessee Medical Association (TMA) and its value to physicians across the state. The individual in this role will leverage TMA’s programs, services, and member benefits to effectively communicate and demonstrate the organization’s impact and relevance. This employee will participate in the development and implementation of membership marketing, communications, and engagement plans to promote TMA and its various activities to various target audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Member Relations
- Create written materials for use to market membership
- Develop and present presentations tailored to audiences for membership promotion and general information updates
- Meet with medical group contacts about membership
- To assist in development and implementation for marketing campaigns in order to drive membership growth and renewals.
- Represent TMA at local society meetings, specialty societies events, group practices visits, and other identified venues to promote TMA membership, our advocacy efforts, and generally, the benefits of membership and brand value.
- Working with TMA member sections to engage in activities of organized medicine
- Outreach to practices for timely renewal
- Responding to member requests for information about TMA programs and services
Chapter Relations
- Coordinate and collaborate on membership activities and events with regional and metro staff
- Serve as chapter relations liaison to local chapter leaders statewide to coordinate membership activities and to assist in event design, promotion, leadership communication, and membership outreach.
- Implement strategies to improve and grow relationships with Component Medical Societies and specialty societies to enhance TMA’s image and collaborative work relations.
Events and Professional Relations
- Assist in the planning and production of organizational events
- Registration set up and management
- Copy writing
- Work with venue on logistics, menus, set up, space
- Technical requirements and management A/V
- Collateral production
- Coordinate with CME
- Onsite staffing
- Attend medical meetings to staff exhibit table to promote TMA membership and services.

Candidate will have proven ability to manage and work effectively with others and work independently; proven teamwork experience in an office environment; and superior writing and speaking skills.
Experience in a professional association, non-profit and working with physicians is a plus.
