Nonprofit Insurance Enrollment Agent (16 hours weekly)

Company Description The Tennessee Health Care Campaign is a statewide, volunteer-led nonprofit organization founded in 1989. Its mission is to advocate for policies and programs that improve the health and well-being of people across Tennessee, with a focus on community engagement and effective public education.

Role Description The Nonprofit Insurance Enrollment Agent is a part-time, remote role focused on helping individuals and families understand and enroll in appropriate health insurance plans. Day-to-day tasks include providing one-on-one guidance on available coverage options, walking applicants through enrollment processes, and assisting with documentation and eligibility questions. The agent will respond to inquiries via phone, email, and virtual meetings, offer clear explanations of benefits and costs, and help troubleshoot enrollment issues. This role also involves maintaining accurate records of client interactions, staying current on state and federal health insurance programs, and collaborating with team members to support outreach and education efforts in communities across Tennessee.

Compensation

$22.50-30 an hour. 8-16 hours a week, full time during open enrollment with the opportunity to become full time as position builds.

Mileage reimbursement, $40 a month cell phone/internet reimbursement, $150 a month health insurance reimbursement, additional $50 health expense reimbursement, unlimited paid time off, paid holidays.

Qualifications

• Must have an active health insurance/producer license.
• Must speak Spanish and English.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Insurance and Insurance Brokerage, with the ability to explain coverage options clearly and accurately.
• Experience or familiarity with Insurance Sales and Finance to support individuals in comparing plans and understanding costs and subsidies.
• Strong Customer Service skills, including active listening, empathy, and clear communication with diverse populations.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, part-time environment with reliable internet access and strong organizational skills.
• Commitment to equitable access to healthcare and comfort discussing sensitive health and financial topics in a respectful manner.
• Basic proficiency with online enrollment platforms, spreadsheets, and secure data entry; prior experience with health insurance marketplaces is a plus.
• Relevant certification or training in health insurance navigation or counseling is preferred but not required; prior nonprofit or community outreach experience is beneficial.
