The District Attorney’s Office, 26th Judicial District of Tennessee is seeking an Assistant District Attorney. This position will be responsible for handling a fast-paced caseload in Madison County General Sessions and Juvenile Court.
The 26th Judicial District of Tennessee encompasses three counties: Madison, Chester, and Henderson. The position is located in Madison County.
Baseline Responsibilities:
- Represent the State of Tennessee in criminal court proceedings, including but not limited to arraignments, preliminary hearings, motion hearings, trials, and sentencing.
- Manage an active caseload from intake through disposition, ensuring timely and ethical prosecution of cases.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, victim advocates, forensic experts, and other stakeholders to prepare and present cases effectively.
- Communicate with crime victims and their families, providing updates, guidance, and support throughout the judicial process.
- Conduct legal research, draft motions, and prepare trial strategies to uphold justice and protect public safety.
Minimum Qualifications: Licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee; Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school; ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong attention to detail and organizational skills; capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications: Criminal jury trial experience; prior work in prosecution or criminal law; advanced legal research and litigation skills; experience collaborating with law enforcement and victim advocacy groups; strong courtroom advocacy and negotiation abilities.
