Who We Are And What We Do
The Tennessee Department of Correction operates and oversees 14 adult prisons across the state, housing some 21,000 offenders. In the community, TDOC supervises 79,000 offenders on probation, parole, or community corrections. The department operates 44 probation/parole offices in 13 districts across the state. Rehabilitative Services and Community Engagement provides incarcerated individuals with opportunities to transform their lives, emphasizing education and behavioral health contributing to self-improvement, and successful reentry into the community. The Rehabilitative Services and Community Engagement is responsible for providing transition resources such as education, including literacy, academics, vocational training, and skilled trades as well as workforce development, risk and needs assessment, cognitive interventions, and substance use programs. These programs are aimed at providing a comprehensive and holistic approach to successfully reintegrate people back into the community.
Job Overview
This position reports directly to the Assistant Commissioner of Rehabilitative Services and Community Engagement for the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC). The Assistant Commissioner RSCE oversees Offender Programming and Education, including, Literacy, Academics, Vocational Training and Skilled Trades, as well as Workforce Development, Job Readiness, Volunteer & Religious Services, Victim and Constituent Services. This position is located at the TDOC Central Office in Nashville.
Key Responsibilities
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of full-time professional staff administrative experience or related work.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinating projects, calendars and due dates that are related to any of the areas that the Assistant Commissioner leads.
- Collaborating with various stakeholders from inside and outside the agency; facilitating discussions, training, and professional development, cooperates with other agencies, groups, and individuals in connection with the coordination of departmental activities.
- Assisting the Assistant Commissioner or the divisions directors in completing projects, assists in tracking the implementation of new programs and procedures. This includes project development and management to include developing goals and deadlines monitoring progress.
- Participating in the policy review process by reading, reviewing, and making recommendations about policy to the Assistant Commissioner, studies proposed legislation and advises the administrator regarding its possible effect on departmental programs.
- Coordinating the two areas of Customer Focused Government plans.
- May represent the department at conferences or in meetings; may supervise and review the work of the staff of the administrator's immediate office, drafts correspondence and prepares reports.
