In this role, you will help support early hearing detection and intervention by performing newborn hearing screenings in the newborn nursery and educating families about screening results.

The Newborn Hearing Screening Technician performs hearing screenings for approximately 15–20 newborns per shift, provides compassionate communication to caregivers, and ensures accurate documentation within the electronic medical record.

- Conduct infant hearing screening procedures according to established clinical protocols.

- Maintain screening equipment and report equipment concerns as needed.
- Collaborate with the Pediatric Division Director regarding patient, equipment, or staffing concerns.

- Available shifts include:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs universal newborn hearing screenings in accordance with hospital policies, state Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) requirements, and evidence-based protocols. Technician ensures timely screening of eligible infants, accurate documentation, effective communication with families and care teams, and appropriate referral/follow-up coordination. Prepares and maintains equipment and supplies.
- Rehab PTA/COTA Patient Documentation (Novice): Demonstrates sufficient proficiency in communicating functional impact of assessment findings, treatment interventions, treatment planning diagnosis, and disease process. Considers the communication needs/level of understanding of audience and may share appropriate information/literature.
- Quality Assurance (Fundamental Awareness): Understands the goal of increasing organizational productivity and individual performance by making the products and services within your work assignments more efficient and more effective. Demonstrates quality management practices on the job which result in superior products and services delivered.
- Audiology Patient Education (Novice): Communicates functional impact of assessment findings, treatment interventions, diagnosis, and disease process. Adapts communication to the level of understanding of the patient. Determines comprehension and need for repetition and/or revision of methods.
