Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver - WHEELCHAIR
Job Summary: We are seeking reliable and compassionate NEMT Drivers to provide safe, timely, and courteous transportation for members to and from medical appointments, including doctor visits, treatments, and other healthcare-related services. We are looking for a motivated driver who is ready to take the company vehicle home each day to provide convenient and efficient transportation services. As a NEMT Driver, you will be responsible for ensuring the comfort and safety of members, while maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer service. This role requires attention to detail, excellent driving skills, and the ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport members to and from medical appointments, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
- Assist members with boarding and exiting the vehicle by transporting passengers in wheelchairs and/or scooters requiring four-point securement of the wheelchair or scooters. This includes Curb-to-Curb, Door-to-Door, and Hand-to-Hand service, as required.
- Escorting passengers from vehicle to/from first portal of locations.
- Maintain a safe and clean driving environment by conducting regular vehicle inspections and performing basic maintenance.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies while driving.
- Communicate with the dispatch team regarding schedules, delays, and any special requirements for member care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of trips, including mileage, pick-up/drop-off locations, and times.
- Provide compassionate care and customer service to all members, maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
- The driver shall confirm, prior to departure, that all seat belts are fastened properly, and that all passengers are safely and properly secured.
- Ensure member confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Upon arrival at the destination the driver shall park the vehicle so that the member does not have to cross streets to reach the entrance of the destination.
- Drivers shall visually confirm that the member is inside the destination.
- Transport members in the TN counties of Montgomery, Robertson, Sumner and Cheatham.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in transportation, healthcare, or customer service is preferred.
- Ability to safely operate a vehicle and navigate various routes in urban and rural areas.
- Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
· Take the company vehicle home daily and be ready for assignments.
- Must pass a background check, drug screening, and physical exam as required by company policy and state regulations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals of varying needs.
- Ability to lift and assist members with mobility devices.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours.
· Report any vehicle issues or accidents promptly.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and team members regarding pickup and drop-off times.
- Must be able to travel to Nashville during the onboarding and training process.
