Job Summary

The Account Clerk II position in Payroll plays a critical role in supporting payroll operations, maintaining employee records, processing deductions, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional requirements. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information with accuracy and professionalism.

Job Duties

• Serve as an Agency Benefit Coordinator for the Payroll Office.
• Process incoming and outgoing daily mail.
• Organize, maintain, and scan payroll documents while managing paper filing systems.
• Monitor inventory and order office supplies as needed.
• Manage Dynamic Forms and Temporary Contract workflows.
• Review and approve employee timesheets to ensure timely payroll processing.
• Balance payroll following monthly updates and submit required reports to the Business Office.
• Process 401(k) and 457 retirement plan deductions and prepare required vendor reports.
• Accurately process and update employee W-4 tax forms.
• Review and process court orders, including maintaining documentation, processing deductions, and preparing related correspondence.
• Administer and maintain Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
• Process 403(b) retirement plan deductions and submit appropriate reports to vendors.
• Review and process compensatory time earned forms.
• Assist with preparing quarterly payroll reports, including Unemployment and IRS Form 941 reporting.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required;
• Experience in a professional office environment;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word required.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Payroll and/or accounting experience.
• Experience with Banner and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
