The Landscape Technician is responsible for performing general landscaping & maintenance tasks on properties and equipment managed by the Tennessee Aquarium.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintains the cleanliness of the grounds, parking lot, walkways, water features, and buildings on the Aquarium Plaza
- Grounds maintenance: mowing, weed eating, trash pickup, pressure washing, landscaping and irrigation systems maintenance
- Operates and maintains the three water features on the Aquarium Plaza which will include pumps, filters, and water quality management
- Facility and grounds lighting; re-lamping and minor repairs
- Performs general maintenance tasks on facility finishes such as handrails, door hardware adjustments, and painting
- Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on air handling equipment; change filters, clean coils, fan housing, fins & unit interior, and belt replacement
- Performs work in a manner that fosters the Aquarium’s mission and reflects its core values and service standards
Key Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred
- Certified Pool Operator Certification preferred
- Self-motivated, with good communication skills with the ability to interact with co-workers and guests in a way that promotes our core values and service standards
- Mechanical aptitude for facility and grounds maintenance
- Enjoy working outside
- Quick learner with attention to detail.
- Ability to work alone while staying on task
- Previous grounds maintenance, facility maintenance, or construction experience preferred
- Basic computer skills: accessing email and internet preferred
Full-time, hourly ($17.00/hour); must be able to work some weekends and holidays as needed, as well as a flexible schedule.
