What are the responsibilities and job description for the Integration Engineer position at Tenkara?
FTE | San Francisco, California
--
At Tenkara, we're building an operating system for process manufacturers, starting with AI agents that run procurement, logistics, and demand planning.
American manufacturing has never had a greater opportunity to reclaim global competitiveness. But operations teams are underwater, drowning in manual coordination work. Suppliers managed over email. Freight tracked through calls. Compliance scattered across spreadsheets. Mid-market manufacturers can't scale operations without scaling headcount proportionally.
Tenkara deploys AI agents that execute these workflows autonomously, bringing cutting-edge AI into the economy's most critical sectors. Our agents enable businesses to make smarter decisions and faster transactions.
Build the absolute best product, bar nothing. Move fast and learn by shipping. Meritocracy where ideas win on merit. Extreme ownership. Steep trajectory for those who prove themselves. What we're building matters: helping American manufacturers compete globally.
We're backed by some of the very best supply chain and enterprise software investors. We're live with manufacturers processing real transactions right now. Founded by a serial entrepreneur who built and ran manufacturing plants from the ground up.
You will own how our platform connects to the outside world: ERPs, freight systems, supplier data feeds, and customer environments. You'll build data pipelines that hold up when the source data doesn't, and work directly with customers to understand their systems and bring them onto ours. What you learn there shapes what we build next.
- Build and maintain integrations with ERPs, freight APIs, and client systems.
- Design and operate ETL pipelines that ingest, transform, and normalize external data.
- Partner directly with customers during onboarding to map their data to our platform.
- Own data quality and validation, ensuring external data is clean, consistent, and reliable.
- Build tooling to accelerate integration development and reduce onboarding time.
- Document integration patterns and create runbooks for common scenarios.
- Collaborate with platform and product engineers to define how external data flows through the system.
- Strong software engineering experience with a focus on data engineering.
- Strong skills in data pipelines and ETL: you've worked with tools like Airflow, dbt, Fivetran, or custom pipeline frameworks.
- Experience with data modeling and schema design for complex, messy real-world data.
- Comfortable working directly with customers—you can translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with common enterprise systems: ERPs, TMS/freight platforms, EDI, or similar.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and ideally TypeScript.
- You're resourceful and pragmatic. You know when to build custom vs. leverage existing tools.
- Supply chain or logistics domain experience.
$140,000-$160,000 annually meaningful equity (you would be one of the first 5 technical hires).
Health, dental, vision following probationary period. Unlimited PTO.
Hard, important problems. Foundational ownership. Direct collaboration with experienced, well-backed founders. Meaningful equity in a company with strong tailwinds.
