Job Summary:

The role of Assistant Coach for wrestling is to assist the Head Coach in developing and supporting a positive, competitive wrestling program for Tenino School District. This position is primarily responsible for supporting the boys’ wrestling. This is a unified program so all coaching staff support both boys and girls.

Certifications:

• Valid Washington State Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
• Current first aid/CPR training or willingness to be trained.

Job Description - High School Assistant Coach:

• Responsible to the Head Coach/Athletic Director.
• Must be able to attend all school practices, games, tournaments, meetings, etc.
• Must be able to drive district vehicles to transport participants.
• Support the Head Coach and contribute to the success of both the sport and the district athletic program.
• Support and uphold the Head Coach’s leadership and the team’s goals. As a team, members should be willing to adapt their individual views on strategy and tactics to align with the overall direction and objectives established by the Head Coach.
• Assume the responsibility for maintenance of facilities and personnel in the absence of the Head Coach.
• Report all injuries, misconduct, or other unusual situations to the Head Coach, Athletic Director, or Principal.
• Assist in checking in and inventorying all equipment at the end of the season.
• Assume all duties assigned to the Head Coach in the event the Head Coach is absent.
• Attend rules clinics, workshops, and classes that are required to maintain compliance with WIAA coaching certifications standards.
• Promote accountability through fair, consistent, and positive guidance.
• Conduct themself in an ethical manner during practices and contests.
• Provide information regarding Letters and special awards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director.
• Complete and file mandatory WIAA rules clinics with the Athletic Director.
• Complete and file mandatory Safe School tests with the Athletic Director.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Employees must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
• Physical ability to lift 25 pounds to shoulder height.
• Ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
• Ability to effectively manage student transition to a variety of locations (e.g. P.E., recess, buses and lunch) throughout the day.
