Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Eviction Diversion Outreach Worker to join our team on a part-time basis. In this vital role, you will serve as a bridge between underserved communities and available resources, helping to prevent evictions through proactive outreach, education, and support. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by coordinating outreach efforts, developing programs, and collaborating with local organizations to promote housing security.

Basic Function: The Eviction Diversion Outreach Worker supports the Eviction Diversion Program by conducting proactive outreach to tenants scheduled for eviction hearings and helps connect eligible households to mediation, legal representation, financial assistance, and housing counseling services. This position focuses on engaging clients prior to a hearing through phone, mailings, and in-person/home-based contact, assisting with intake and documentation, and coordinating timely referrals and follow-up.

A. Essential Functions:

Client Outreach (Pre-Hearing):

1. Monitor incoming eviction hearing dockets and support outreach tools to connect with tenants prior to hearings (may include mailings, phone calls, texts, and community-based contact).

2. Conduct outreach to tenants who are difficult to reach during standard business hours, including some evenings (approximately 5:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m.).

3. Provide home-based outreach/visits when appropriate and in accordance

with agency policies and safety practices.

Intake, Eligibility, and Documentation Support:

1. Assist tenants in completing intake forms and gathering required documentation

for program services.

2. Support initial screening for program eligibility and coordinate next steps with the

Eviction Diversion Coordinator and program team.

3. Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals to Tenfold’s Housing Counseling team and other relevant services.

Court Support and Coordination:

1. Attend court hearings as assigned to assist tenants with intake, connect eligible tenants to legal representation, and document court outcomes.

2. Support communication between tenants, landlords, court staff, and legal partners as directed, helping reduce barriers to resolution and eviction prevention.

Documentation, Data Entry, and Tracking:

1. Maintain accurate case notes and outreach logs, documenting all contacts, referrals, and outcomes related to eviction prevention efforts.

2. Input case data in Tenfold CMS within 72 hours of service delivery.

3. Track outreach and engagement efforts, noting trends and barriers, and sharing updates with the program team.

Relationship Building:

1. Support positive working relationships with court staff, landlords, and community partners through respectful communication and timely follow-up.

2. Represent the program at outreach events and partner activities as assigned.

3. Conduct outreach to prospective and enrolled clients by phone, text, email, and in person, including some evening hours as needed.

4. Provide home-based outreach/visits as appropriate to connect with clients who are difficult to reach through other methods.

5. Build rapport and maintain consistent, respectful communication with clients to support engagement in BFEC programming.

Resource Connection and Support:

1. Provide information and warm handoffs to Tenfold and community resources based on client needs.

2. Support clients with basic navigation of services, including completing forms, gathering documentation, and scheduling appointments when needed.

3. Identify barriers to participation (e.g., transportation, scheduling, communication) and coordinate with the BFEC team to reduce those barriers.

Documentation and Coordination:

1. Maintain accurate records of outreach attempts, client contacts, referrals, and outcomes in Tenfold systems in accordance with program requirements.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Associate’s degree in human services, social work, public administration, criminal justice, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

2. Experience in housing services, eviction prevention, case management, outreach, or a related social services field preferred.

3. Familiarity with landlord/tenant rights, eviction procedures, and/or fair housing concepts helpful.

4. Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with tenants, landlords, court staff, and partner agencies.

5. Strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple outreach follow-ups and deadlines.

6. Comfortable working in community settings and providing home-based outreach in accordance with agency policies and safety practices.

7. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evening hours.

8. Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google tools and ability to learn and use case management data systems.

9. Reliable transportation and ability to travel locally as needed.

10. Experience working with families and/or in community outreach, social services, education, or a related setting preferred.

11. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build trust with clients from diverse backgrounds required.

12. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain a flexible schedule, including some evening hours required.

13. Spanish fluency preferred.

14. Experience working with local government agencies or the court system preferred; familiarity with local rental assistance programs, community resources, and referral networks preferred.

15. Experience working in a team-based, client-centered program environment preferred.
