Job Description

Teneo is seeking a paid intern for its Washington, DC office for the fall semester. The intern will work closely with the DC-based members of Teneo’s Strategy & Communications business to support the creation and execution of GA/PA approaches to achieve clients’ strategic goals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct issue and stakeholder research across a range of sectors in support of client needs and business development.
  • Monitor and analyze political and policy developments and potential impacts on clients.
  • Support ongoing internal strategic initiatives, such as maintaining a range of databases that track political organizations, key government nominations, upcoming speaking events and upcoming congressional hearings and key votes.
  • Track virtual events including White House Press Briefings, Congressional Hearings and relevant industry panels/keynotes.
  • Provide general administrative and project management support as needed.

Required Skills

  • Rising senior or graduate student, pursuing a degree with relevant course work in politics, economics, international affairs, regional studies, communications, history or a related field.
  • Deep, practical understanding of the U.S. political landscape and policy environment, grounded in hands-on past work experiences that required monitoring and assessing these dynamics.
  • Demonstrated track record in corporate public affairs through previous internship roles in public affairs, corporate or campaign communications - not just interested, but holds a background in this work.
  • Proven background in delivering insight-driven analysis, sharp research and possesses exceptional writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and respond to inquiries/request in a timely and professional manner.
  • Team-oriented, intellectually curious and enthusiastic to learn.

The strongest candidates typically have one or two semesters of experience in government, legislative offices, political campaigns or public affairs firms. They are proficient in policy-focused tools such as LegiStorm, OpenSecrets, PoliticoPro; have familiarity with media monitoring; and have a proven track record of producing briefing memos or research on behalf of corporate clients.

Pay Range: $23/hour

Flexible Work Policy

Teneo believes in in-person collaboration when possible and if you are assigned to the Washington DC office, the company expectation is for employees to work from the office location a minimum of 4 days a week.
