We are seeking a reliable and organized Assistant Director to support daily operations at our childcare center. This role involves ensuring compliance with licensing regulations, providing leadership to a small team of staff, and maintaining a safe, engaging environment for children. The Assistant Director will have primary responsibility for curriculum development and support for teachers, while also handling administrative tasks and parent communications.
Responsibilities
- Manage attendance and daily reporting using Brightwheel
- Monitor classroom documentation, including meals, potty, photos, and lesson plans
- Support teachers and ensure implementation of hands-on activities daily
- Maintain child and staff files, including contact info, CPR/First Aid, background checks, and trainings
- Ensure compliance with childcare licensing regulations and safe sleep (SIDS) practices
- Conduct and document monthly fire drills and quarterly emergency drills
- Coordinate monthly calendars, events, and parent involvement days
- Create lesson plans, calendars, and flyers using Canva
- Answer calls, conduct tours, and prepare enrollment packets
- Complete weekly inventory and supply lists
- Provide classroom coverage as needed while maintaining schedules
- Oversee a small team of 1-5 staff members
- Participate in occasional local travel for meetings or events
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of childcare experience
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
- Knowledge of childcare licensing regulations
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Experience with Brightwheel software
- Familiarity with SIDS safe sleep practices
- Curriculum and lesson planning expertise
- Staff leadership and event coordination experience
- Knowledge of emergency procedures and drills
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
