Director of Curriculum & Classroom Excellence Position Summary
The Director of Curriculum & Classroom Excellence is responsible for ensuring every classroom at Tender Care Learning Center provides a safe, engaging, developmentally appropriate, and high-quality learning environment. This position serves as the instructional leader of the center by coaching teachers, monitoring classroom quality, supporting children's development and behavior, and ensuring consistency in routines, procedures, and curriculum implementation.
Primary Responsibilities
Classroom Leadership
- Maintain high expectations for classroom quality across all age groups.
- Ensure classrooms are clean, organized, inviting, and developmentally appropriate.
- Monitor classroom environments daily and provide immediate feedback when improvements are needed.
- Ensure classrooms remain in compliance with Texas Minimum Standards and Texas Rising Star expectations.
- Ensure teachers maintain appropriate supervision and active engagement with children.
Curriculum Implementation
- Oversee implementation of the Frog Street Curriculum.
- Review lesson plans for completeness, accuracy, and intentionality.
- Ensure lesson plans are followed throughout the day.
- Provide teachers with ideas, materials, and support to improve classroom instruction.
- Ensure learning centers are purposeful, well-stocked, and rotated appropriately.
Teacher Coaching & Professional Development
- Mentor and coach teachers through regular classroom observations.
- Provide ongoing feedback to improve teaching practices.
- Model effective teaching strategies and classroom management techniques.
- Assist with onboarding and training new teachers.
- Identify professional development needs and provide individualized coaching.
- Foster a positive, collaborative teaching culture.
Behavior Support
- Assist teachers with challenging behaviors and classroom management.
- Develop individualized behavior strategies when needed.
- Partner with families regarding behavior concerns in a professional manner.
- Help teachers create positive classroom environments that promote social-emotional development.
Child Development
- Monitor children's developmental progress.
- Assist teachers in identifying developmental concerns.
- Ensure developmental observations are completed accurately and on time.
- Support teachers in planning activities that meet children's developmental needs.
- Help ensure every child is actively engaged and learning throughout the day.
Classroom Procedures & Routines
- Establish consistent classroom routines throughout the center.
- Ensure transitions are smooth and purposeful.
- Monitor schedules to ensure classrooms follow daily routines.
- Ensure teachers implement center policies consistently.
- Maintain consistency between classrooms while allowing age-appropriate flexibility.
Documentation & Assessments
- Review classroom documentation for quality and accuracy.
- Ensure observations are completed on schedule.
- Monitor children's portfolios and developmental records.
- Assist teachers in documenting children's growth and progress.
Family Communication
- Support teachers with difficult parent conversations.
- Ensure professional communication standards are maintained.
- Assist in conferences regarding developmental or behavioral concerns.
- Promote positive relationships between teachers and families.
Classroom Materials
- Monitor classroom supplies and educational materials.
- Recommend new curriculum materials and classroom resources.
- Ensure toys and materials remain organized, complete, and developmentally appropriate.
- Assist with classroom setup and seasonal classroom refreshes.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct regular classroom observations.
- Develop improvement plans when necessary.
- Celebrate teacher successes while holding staff accountable for expectations.
- Work closely with administration to improve overall program quality.
- Support licensing visits, Texas Rising Star assessments, and other quality initiatives.

This position is ultimately responsible for the quality of every classroom in the building. The Director of Curriculum should know what is happening in each classroom, recognize areas that need improvement, and provide the coaching and leadership necessary to help every teacher succeed.
Pay: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
