Responsibilities
Short Job Description
- Design advanced PLC programs and software for industrial applications.
- Develop maintenance and testing procedures for electronic components and equipment.
- Evaluate systems and recommend design modifications or equipment repair.
- Inspect electronic equipment, instruments, and systems to make sure they meet safety standards and applicable regulations.
- Plan and develop applications and modifications for electronics used in parts and systems in order to improve technical performance.
- Maintain robotic equipment.
- Analyze and record results of repairs and improvements.
Maintenance & Reliability
- Ensure automation and robotic systems across the industrial facility are operating at standard performance (Availability, Reliability, Maintainability) using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Robotics cells and vision systems, HMIs, investors and digital drives, industrial networks, and Level 2 systems.
- Program the necessary maintenance activities in PM Days and REX to achieve the maintenance performance goals and determine, according to inspection plans, maintenance plans, master plans, and failures/root cause analysis, action plans.
- Plan and executing PM (Plant Maintenance) days and REX in the area under the Base Maintenance Group responsibility.
- Execute, lead and/or technically supervising the safe execution of maintenance activities performed on Automation and Robotic systems, taking as main premises the safety of the personnel (direct and indirect employees).
- Ensure prompt correction of unsafe conditions and promote safe behaviors in the personnel in the area of responsibility.
- Technically supervise the maintenance activities perform by third parties in the area under his/her responsibility; assuring safety, quality and productivity while performing the activities.
- Inspects, diagnoses, and performs advanced electric and electronic repairs, replacements and upgrades.
- Follow up repairs ensuring the performed work effectiveness.
- Inspects, diagnosis and improvement of any robot (including end of arm tools), automation and vision equipment according to maintenance plans.
- Coordinates with the production tooling shop the proper electrical/electronic repairs and adjustments needed.
- Performs reviews of emergency groups' repairs and complex failure analysis.
- Develops advanced PLC programs and software.
- Interprets electrical and Pneumatic drawings.
- Verifies the correct functioning of tools, instruments and accessories checking they fulfill with specifications.
Reporting & Spare Parts
- Record promptly (per procedure) all safety/environmental events and activities in the official Tenaris Safety and Environmental System (TSE).
- Maintain the technical records in the maintenance management system updated (SAP PM).
- Researches spare parts requirements and new material utilization.
- Propose, develop, and execute PIN plans in quality and quantity to comply with Tenaris maintenance standards, to installations and equipment under his/her area of responsibility.
- Carries out forklift or radio control overhead crane operation when applicable.
Failure Analysis
- Actively performing failure and root cause analysis, focusing on the maintenance “ABC” of significant failures.
- Establish and execute the proper corrective action plan to eliminate or reduce the root causes.
Knowledge Sharing
- Promote knowledge-sharing regarding these events among other Tenaris mills and facilities as well with the corporate expert departments.
- Be a technical reference for Automation and Robotics systems as well as the operational team.
- Interacts with other areas to ensure the maintenance interventions and repairs are successful.
Improve
- Propose and participate in the redesign of Automation and Robotic Systems with the Maintenance Engineering support, seeking improvements in safety, reliability and maintainability.
- Actively participate and collaborate with Production teams in increasing performance indicators (Quality rejects, CTT, CTR, Change overs, Operative interruption) of his/her area of responsibility.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement Teams (CIT), as needed.
Qualifications
- Completed Engineering Degree or Technical College Degree
- 5 years of experience in the company or 2/3 years operating or maintaining heavy manufacturing steel industrial system, or equivalent and entry level exam approved.
- Advanced Knowledge of instrumentation systems
- Advanced Knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic controllers – Siemens – Allen Bradley)
- Advanced Knowledge of Human Machine Interface (HMI)
- Advanced Knowledge of AC motor systems
- Knowledge of Robotic Systems (ABB)
- Knowledge of CNC Controllers (Sinumerik)
- Knowledge of power distribution and motor control systems (high & medium Voltage)
- Knowledge of equipment inspection techniques (Megger)
- Knowledge of predictive maintenance
- Knowledge of mechanical & transmission equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of lubrication theory and systems preferred.
- Knowledge of hydraulic equipment preferred.
