Job Summary
The Accountant plays a key role in supporting the company’s financial operations, reporting, and analysis. This position is responsible for preparing and analyzing complex financial data, preparing financial statements, assisting in budgeting and forecasting, and presenting key financial insights to management through professional reports, charts, and presentations. The Accountant collaborates with department leaders to ensure accurate financial performance tracking and supports strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, analyze, and interpret complex financial reports and statements
- Develop and maintain detailed budgets and variance analyses
- Create professional PowerPoint presentations and Excel dashboards summarizing financial performance and trends for management and executive review
- Prepare charts, graphs, and data visualizations in Excel to communicate financial results clearly and effectively
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of financial records
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization
- Participate in various projects, team activities and operational improvement initiatives
- Completes new vendor setup form and collects necessary vendor information (Form W-9). Submits timely to supervisor for processing.
- Completes monthly credit card and bank accounts reconciliations, including confirmation of supporting receipts and required documentation.
- Prepares and/or reviews sales tax reports based on invoices and established departmental procedures. Ensures tax reports are completed timely and submitted for review and approval by management.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Advanced work experience may be used in lieu of bachelor’s degree.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and charts
- Strong PowerPoint skills; ability to design clear, concise financial presentations for management
- Proven ability to analyze complex financial data and communicate findings effectively
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting practices
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
