We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Documentation Consultant to join our team. As a Clinical Documentation Consultant, you will be responsible for reviewing medical records and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of clinical documentation. This role plays a crucial part in improving the quality of patient care and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
The Clinical Documentation Consultant will work closely with healthcare providers to educate them on best practices for documentation and coding. You will also collaborate with coding and billing teams to ensure that diagnoses and procedures are accurately reflected in the medical records. The Clinical Documentation Consultant must have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and clinical documentation improvement principles.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough reviews of medical records to identify areas for improvement in clinical documentation.
2. Educate healthcare providers on proper documentation practices and coding guidelines.
3. Collaborate with coding and billing teams to ensure accurate code assignment and reimbursement.
4. Develop and implement strategies to enhance clinical documentation quality and completeness.
5. Stay up-to-date on changes in healthcare regulations and coding guidelines.
6. Provide feedback and training to staff members on clinical documentation best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field.
- Certified Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in clinical documentation improvement or related field.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
